Family tree quilt

A co-worker couldn’t find a quilter to make a queen-sized family tree quilt for her in-law’s anniversary, so she asked if I would. I quilt but had never appliquéd, but she didn’t mind because I was the only person who was willing to try. She wanted a simple quilt with the main focus on the tree. I drafted a few designs and this is the one she liked best. I saved my tree pattern in case I ever decide to make another 4 foot appliqued tree—although I highly doubt it!

Wow - and for a co-worker too! I'd be tempted to keep that for little ol' me!
Gorgeous quilt and very nice design. Your co-worker is a very lucky person. Beautifully done.
Cute quilt!
The quilt looks great, and I can see names embroidered on the leaves - You did a great job!
so beautiful! simple you said? I am not good at all at appliqués.
What a fabulous quilt...I love the birds too. You did an amazing job.
Oh, my, that is gorgeous!

I had wanted to do something like this for our 50th anniversary with names on leaves too. I say I can't draw, but actually did manage a tree that did look like a tree-lol, but ended up doing something else I thought he might like. He does, so he never knew of my original idea.
You did a great job for never having appliqued. I wish I could bring it close up to see better. Great co-worker you are too! |
You did a wonderful job!!!
wow, great design and well done
What a lovely quilt! Your design is going to be so appreciated..love the heart on the tree and the little birds are just adorable. That quilt really tells a story.
That’s a beautiful quilt. You did such a nice thing too!
Great job on drafting the pattern and very nice quilt.
I love your family tree quilt and especially the tree, Great applique.
Fabulous idea and your work is beautiful. Bless your heart for attempting this!
Absolutely stunning! I am sure they will be dearly touched with its beauty, thoughtfulness, and meaning as well as the obvious care and attention to detail that this was crafted with. 1st Prize worthy I would venture to say... if it was ever entered in a quilt show. I would love to have this on my wall. Gorgeous! :)
It's simply gorgeous! I know when you appliqué something that big, it takes on a mind of its own! Good looking quilt!
Gorgeous quilt and work.
You did an amazing job and have a heart of gold. The tree is majestic. It would be hard to part with. Thanks so much for posting. Appliqué is great too.

Wonderful. Lucky co-worker. BrendaK

Beautiful quilt! I love to see how others do family tree quilts. My avatar is the family tree quilt I made in 2002 for my parents 50th anniversary.
Beautiful ... it's awesome
Very clever. That was very nice of you to do.
What a thoughtful co-worker and skilled too. Love your rendition and final quilt. I, too, think the heart and the birds add a special little touch. I'm sure they will be touched and tears will flow.
Fabulous job!
V-e-r-y Nice!!!
That is so awesome of a quilt you made. If I was to make a family tree quilt of my family, lets say it would be a super king size quilt with the tree starting on the front and wrapping around back of the quilt.
Terrific design, colors and quilting. You hit this one out of the ballpark!
I love the simplicity of this family tree. Your applique certainly doesn't look like your first try. You did fantastic & the quilting is beautiful also. Your co-worker should really be pleased with this.
Nice tree quilt.
WOW! you did a great job. I may have to borrow your idea.
you made a beautiful quilt !!!
How clever of you! It's perfect.
Your tree is just great! I like your border too, with the stars all around, and the whimsical birds on the ground. A very nice piece.
That is so awesome! What a great anniversary idea..... mind if I “borrow” it :)
