Always great to work with the young minds - everything is an adventure to them. Love the view from your shack veranda. I would spend at least half the time daydreaming!

Love both of your quilts. She did a wonderful job. She's lucky to have you.

Cris 01-24-2012 05:26 AM

Simply fabulous, she is well on her way to become an awesome quilter with you as her mentor!!!!

WMUTeach 01-24-2012 06:13 AM

Ah, summer on the porch quilting. What a dream from cold, wet rain/snow/ice and windy Michigan. What fun it must be to mentor and friend a young quilter. Lucky Heidi and Lucky you.

MarthaT 01-24-2012 06:32 AM

What a gift you gave her! She's off to a great start. Had to check your location when you said summer day. :-)

brendadawg 01-24-2012 07:04 AM

She is so blessed to have such a wonderful teacher. Her quilt is beautiful, as is yours. And the view from your porch is fantastic. Can I come play on your porch, too?

Lovely batik quilt and I LOVE your yellow and black quilt pattern. Is it in some book somewhere. I've never seen that pattern. Great job. Thanks for sharing. Soooo, it's summer in Australia. We are having WINTER big time here. Snow, Ice storms, cold, cold weather and freezing rain is happening as I wirte this. Weather not fit for man or beast!

A quilt mentor

I agree - how wonderful that you and Heidi are quilting together! And the view from your window - I love it. I'd probably get sidetracked looking at the mountains and water. What an inspiration for your next quilt projects!

JanieH 01-24-2012 10:40 AM

I love the look of joy on both your faces! That is what quilting is all about!

Mariposa 01-24-2012 10:45 AM

Neat to see younger ones starting. You may have a new quilting buddy! :)

Beginner10 01-24-2012 10:52 AM

OHHHHH to have a view like that:) You both did a wonderful job and glad the young one had someone to show her the ropes.
The only thing bad I see...IMO...I really don't know how much quilting I would get done with that beautiful view :)

Beautiful quillts Lynnie and Heidi. It is so great that you have started another generation in quilting, lynnie.

Awwww, that is awesome. What a blessing to have the opportunity to get her started on a lifelong hobby that she will always enjoy. Good job. Both quilts are lovely also.

Looks like a great place to sew. I can see you had a good time. Nice work on your projects.

Grama Lehr 01-24-2012 11:52 AM

Sew much fun!! I can't wait till the grands are big enough to sew!

Vanogay 01-24-2012 03:43 PM

What a neat weekend you must have had - and the pictures you posted show it. Heidi is luck to be close by so you can take her under your arms and mentor her. I'm glad to have the picture (I printed the first one) so I can look at it as I sew on your quilt. Gee, too bad you weren't working on a bargello quilt!!!

fmhall2 01-24-2012 03:59 PM

Wonderful way to spend some time teaching a young person to love quilting. I admire you.

sustraley 01-24-2012 04:05 PM

Love your sewing room. The quilts are very nice too.

[QUOTE The only thing bad I see...IMO...I really don't know how much quilting I would get done with that beautiful view :)[/QUOTE]

The days are fairly rare that I can sit out on the verandah and quilt all day, that was one of the most magical days I have had in the 30 years we have been going to the shack. There is usually a breeze that plays havoc with the fabrics by lunchtime so usually only get a few hours sewing. Another 4 days at the shack this coming weekend - more sewing :) :)

:) :) vanogay, that one is safely being sewn here at home, as its a special one. Scrap quilts are the speciality at the shack usually.

These are really pretty. You are lucky you have someone to share you quilting skills with. You also have a beautiful view from your veranda.
