What a wonderful way to spend a weekend. She will remember this for the rest of her life. Sewing is a life skill that is too often not taught anymore and yet it is something that we can enjoy every day.

What a precious time you had with someone you enjoy being with.

What a fun time! She did a great job. Yours is a very interesting pattern. What is it called?

The pattern is from the 'Quiltmakers 100 Blocks, Vol 4' magazine and is the Quatrefoil (Block 330) block. I have done a smaller one in red, white and black and thought I would try out the full size one in 2 colours. There are more rows to be added but it looks good so far.

I should add that Heidi had never used a sewing machine until she started making her blocks. Following the lines on the foundation pieced blocks gave her the confidence to start and continue and I think is why she has enjoyed it so much. But I got her to make a 9 patch (with no lines to follow) - just using the 1/4 guide on the sewing machine and she managed fine, even unpicking one row because the seams didn't match. :)

Wish I had someone like you to get started with! Looks like a great time!

Heidi...welcome to our world of quilting.
I see a budding quilter with lots of talent.
Lynnie...I love the pattern and color of your quilt...

Sounds like bliss to me too. She has done a great job with a scrappy and I like the effect of your one also.

I love seeing them young, there are not enough young ones in this industry. I still feel sometimes out of place when I take classes and am always the youngest one there so it is nice to see kids starting to love it

Loved your story! Beautiful pictures! How wonderful to be able to teach someone quilting and having a great time doing it. Beautiful quilts. Heidi did a great job on her foundation quilt!
