The fastest I ever made a quilt!!!

My niece has to have open heart surgery Feb.3 so I immediately found out what colors she wanted and put my BH mystery aside to whip this up.
While the quilting isn't perfect, I'm pleased with it. I'm improving! She got it yesterday (2 days in the mail wow!) and is thrilled.
Nobody in my family quilts so they think I'm a magician :D.
Thanks for looking at Carrie's quilt.

sewbizgirl 02-01-2022 04:39 PM

Very sweet. Yes, you are fast!

Tartan 02-01-2022 06:26 PM

What a lovely gift!

toogie 02-01-2022 06:43 PM

Good for you! ( and her too!) I hope the surgery goes as well too. Is this the Disappearing Nine Patch? Your quilting looks good. I like the look. You must have washed it or they did, so the quilting looks great. What batting do you use, if you don’t mind me asking?

sewingsuz 02-01-2022 07:39 PM

Susie, what a great job. What pattern is that. Is that you husband hubby holding the quilt? You are super duper! You must have sewed all night!

tallchick 02-02-2022 03:27 AM

Sew very pretty, no wonder she loved it! Keeping her in my prayers!

jmoore 02-02-2022 03:54 AM

What a thoughtful gift Susie…I’’m sure it will provide her comfort and warmth during her recovery. Great work!

rjwilder 02-02-2022 04:33 AM

Wow, you are fast, what a kind thing to do for her. She will love wrapping up in it while recovering. I will keep her in my prayers.

lindaschipper 02-02-2022 04:43 AM

Lovely quilt. I'm sure she will take comfort in it over the next month as she heals. Must say that I love your original hardwood flooring in the kitchen. You don't see it very often these days.

BonnieJP 02-02-2022 05:10 AM

Absolutely gorgeous!

Homespun 02-02-2022 05:58 AM

Yes, it's a Disappearing 9 patch. I used Warm and Natural and washed it before sending (cat hairs I'm sure!)
Thanks for the nice comments! And yes, that's Paul!!!

kalady 02-02-2022 06:52 AM

Wow

What a lovely quilt to wrap your niece in love. Beautiful work and a nice cooperative proud hubby too.

I echo everyone's comments: beautiful and generous gesture to make your niece comfortable and loved during her recovery. Well wishes and prayers coming her way.

Thanks for looking at Carrie's quilt.

Really nice quilt, Susie, and a wonderful gift for Carrie to wrap up in while healing.

Jingle 02-02-2022 02:08 PM

Your quilt and quilting is beautiful.

Paul looks great after all he went through not long ago. I am sure your care helped a lot.

osewme 02-02-2022 04:55 PM

That had to be record time in making that lovely quilt.

I can see why she is thrilled with that quilt....it's beautiful. I love any "disappearing" blocks. For some reason they just intrigue me.
Paul is sure a handsome man. I'd say he's a keeper on looks alone! :)
I'll be praying for your niece as she goes through this surgery tomorrow.

Sync 02-02-2022 06:38 PM

Lovely quilt and the splash of orange really pops.

Chantal 02-04-2022 04:31 PM

Disappearing nine patch. Very pretty!

tinlizzy 02-05-2022 06:46 PM

Nice quilt and for a great cause. One of the reasons I enjoy quilting is being able to gift quilts - gifts that are appreciated and show you that wish them well.

travelinggramma 02-06-2022 07:34 AM

It would have taken me forever just to decide on colors and placement! Great job. i am planning on using this pattern when teaching new quiltmakers in a few months. I will be using your color selections as a sample if you don't mind.

pennyhal2 02-07-2022 10:53 AM

It looks like double slice layer cake?

summitbay 02-07-2022 11:17 AM

I hope Carrie is recovering nicely and surgery was a success. No doubt her new quilt with the soft crinkles has comforted her like a warm hug. You have a great eye for color and especially like the pop of orange. 9-patch is always a fav. You were fast in making this quilt, but I guarantee your niece will love this quilt for a long time into the future. Well done!

Teen 02-12-2022 03:22 PM

Lol…I love it! Your are a magician….that’s a lot of piecing, girl. Prayers for your niece, Susie…

pbraun 02-14-2022 05:39 AM

I hope the surgery went well. I am sure the bright colors and your love will help the healing process.

SusieQOH 02-14-2022 04:18 PM

Thanks, everyone.
She had a really strange heart problem- I'm a cardiac nurse and never heard of it. She came through just fine and is home. My brother (her Dad) is with her. I appreciate the prayers and good wishes. She's such a wonderful member of our family!

pennyhal- It's a disappearing nine patch. Easy!

Honey58 02-16-2022 10:39 AM

That is a very thoughtful gift. Keeping her in my prayers for a complete recovery.

Bobbielinks 03-03-2022 04:54 AM

Don't be too much of a magician. They will expect you to snap your finger and make every quilt quickly. It is really a great quilt. Love your fabrics.
