Favorite Things
2 Attachment(s)
Finished this comfort quilt for my niece in Texas. My first time to try the shadow box pattern and once I got past the fibro malfunctions it went well. LOL.
I used things she likes for the blocks, so it's a bit of I Spy too. The background is pink with rose buds on it, as that is another of her favorites. Pink and black and red and black are combinations she likes so had to get those in there too. I chose the song from Sound Of Music and wrote on the label, "When you are feeling sad, simply wrap yourself in your favorite things and then you won't feel so bad.".. Many thanks to board members who shared fabrics with me to make this quilt happen. |

Thank you all for such kind words. I had to laugh about the borders. They are made from the "fibro effect" pieces where I cut the first (AND SECOND) batch of the side shadow bars 1/2" too short!
Saw they were half inch too short, thought, dang I must have cut them at 4" instead of 4.5". So went right to cutting a new batch at 4.5". Again too short!!! LOL, what was wrong is that the pink square started at 2" not 2.5", so that's where my half inch was missing. Arghhhhhhhhhhh, so lots of nice pink and black strips to use up. |
The shadow pattern always makes me smile. I am going to have to do one of these. Sometime in the future but the list is so long. You did a great job.
|
