Feathered star take 2
1 Attachment(s)
I made a Christmas FS using paper piecing. This was my first FS and I was intimidated. I liked the results, but did not enjoy removing all those tiny bits of paper.
So. I purchased Marsha McCloskey’s pattern, Vintage Moments. Her pattern was probably written for an experienced FS creator. Not me! I found a tutorial online that walked me through the steps though.... http://sewhappy10000.blogspot.com/20...-tutorial.html And, it was actually fairly simple to do! Thank you, Molly and Marsha! |
Oh wow, I love that!! You say it's fairly simple, but it looks super difficult to me.
That's a beautiful block
Beautiful block. FS is on my bucket list. How large is your block?
Very nice! I've not been brave enough to try a FS yet, but sure like the way they look.
Really nice job! I love the fabric you used :-)

Wonderful job! A feathered star is on my list for 2018
This is so beautiful! What a great job
wow, beautifully done
Its lovely! Really nice!! Please look up the fold and sew method for freezer paper piecing! No sewing through paper so no tearing off!
Here is the method I use. (they used to have a briefer tute, but its all the same) http://www.twiddletails.com/images/FPFtute/FPFTute.pdf Saves hours of work and the same paper pieces can be used many times! Good wishes for you! |
nicely done

A FS is also on my bucket list. |
Really pretty... Your quilt will be stunning when completed.
Great looking block
That's is awesome. I would much rather do the paper piecing lol
Your block is gorgeous.
Love it! And thanks for the link. It's a block on my to-do list. I like the colors you used too.
Hmmm! I am thinking it might need to go on my list which is now about as long as my leg! I love your block and your choice of colors. I have a book showing it in red and white made by Kit Carson's mother. (Just an interesting piece of trivia)
That's a gorgeous block!
I signed up for a PP class on Craftsy. I think her name is Peggy Martin or something like that. I'm terrible at it so I could use the help! :) |
I love feathered stars and I love your block! Thanks for the link to an easier method.
Wow, it looks perfect.
Beautiful star.
It is a beautiful block and you did a fantastic job.
Beautiful block! You are braver than 90% of the rest of us are!!
That is beautiful. Thank you for the link! I've always wanted to try that block.
Beautiful block!

Wow! That's gorgeous!
Super block. Thanks for the link. BrendaK
Beautiful block! I am glad you thought it relatively easy. I think FS is one of those blocks or medallions all quilters want to do on their quilt journey-it is just iconic. It is still on my list.
So impressive! I admire anyone brave enough to attempt the feathered star pattern!

That is beautiful. Perfect fabric choices, too, for that to just pop.
