Try pressing your seams on one of your blocks the opposite direction...

Ok. I figured out what I did wrong. The fence from top to bottom was 8 1/2 but when I cut it to make the square I cut it at 8 inches. I don't know what I was thinking but all is good now and I'm moving forward. Thank you again for your input.

I love your fabrics. This will make an awesome split rail fence. Gosh, I wish I could put fabrics together like that. I want them...lol. Thank you for sharing and I"m sure we can all learn from your mistakes. Have a great day.

You've probably got the message by now! If your blocks should be 8" square when they are all joined together, before joining they will be 8.5" square. Hence your strips need to measure 2.5"x8.5". The best advice to cut long strips 2.5" wide in each fabric, join them, then cut to 8.5". Good luck

Thanks. The fabric was from a kit builder on connecting threads. It makes it easy because they pick the full line of fabric and then you choose which ones you want. You can't mess up because someone already took the guess work out by designing the line. Just thought I'd share.
