Only one is Mine, the other two were hand stitched by my best friends mother. Cathy is a seamstress/quilter and so was her mother.

This is the very first quilt I made and gave to my best friend Cathy. We cried for 2 days over how much she loved it.

Close up of her stitches. Sorry it's a little blurry.

This Cathedral Window (dbl bed size) was hand sewn by Cathy's Mom. She worked on it off nad on for 3 years. This quilt is super heavy, but so very warm.

Another Quilt made by Cathy's Mom. Does anyone know the name of this pattern?

I can see why your friend loved her quilt. Nice job. Don't know the pattern of the last quilt, similar to snail's trail. Someone will know for sure.

Thanks Kathy, I believe you are correct. I had to do alot of searching on hte web to find one to compare. My friend Cathy will love to know that's the name of it, especially since her "little monkeys" like to wrench it form her when they visit.

Your machine applique is outstanding!!!! The CW looks perfect, I can see why she is a seamstress. I started one and never finished it, it is a lot of work.

All are wonderful so much ambition in the CW.

Blocks are often known by several names. I've always seen this one called "Snail's Trail." Actually, I think that may be the most common name for it, based on this reference for starters:

It's lovely to have the work of a loved one's hands who has passed.

Nope, no photos of the back of the Cathedral Windows. Would you show us the back please too and also put it in Eddie's tutorial. I love that you have her quilt. It is a work of art.

AgapeStitches 01-06-2011 11:52 AM

The quilt is Cathy's now and is at her home. It will be several days before I can get a pic of the back, but I will and add it here and on Eddie's tut also. It will be hard to see the stiching because she used white thread won the white fabric.

Sorry it took me so long, but I was finally able to get pics of the back side of that beautiful CW quilt. Remember this one is completely hand stitched not machine.

Second quilt is called a Monkey Wrench pattern block. I loved the work done on the Cathedral Windows and the applique' quilt. Very nice work on them!!
