Few things I made for gifts!

Here is some gifts I made.
The pink boxes are for a single mom for Mother's Day.
Then I have a picture of the flag quilt top I just finished and
then some Christmas spiders. I really like them and will be making more.
Last picture is a placemat. First one I ever made. It was a little bit of pain because I used stretchy jeans. But they were her favorite pair of jeans and need to make 3 more placemats for Christmas.

I also am entranced by those spiders although the boxes and quilt top are wonderful too. Questions about those spiders: Are they made with regular Christmas balls? Did you have instructions for making them and if so I wondered where I could get them? I think these would make great gifts for some of my quilt friends. I think I remember Herrshners (not sure about that spelling) catalog having kits for spiders that were suppose to be hung in your Christmas tree. There was a story to go with them about how the spiders' web started the tradition of putting tinsel on the tree. Yours look like they are larger maybe? Can you tell I really like them and would love to know more about them?

I couldn't wait so I googled it. This looks like what you made, correct?

I thought I would post it in case anyone else is interested. I have always wanted to make one or more of these so maybe you have "stoked my fire". This must be calling to me because I am of German descent and the spider story takes place in Germany. Thanks ..... I think ..... yep, one more thing added to the to-do list.
