I finally got the binding put on this quilt..........yippee!! I had it pinned and set aside and then I moved. I finally finished it today!! I started out using scraps from another quilt that I did.....and ended up adding to it for a queen size one. I put gold binding on it. It is tucked in the picture. I just love finishing a quilt!! Now I will look in the closet for the other ones that I started and didn't complete. I am now on a mission.

The second one is the first one that I did. I am so attracted to the blues and golds together. But I am trying to make a variety of quilts with different colors. My favorite is a black and cream that I did. I love cuddling up with it.

Wowwww stitchin4fun - those are both stunning!!!! No wonder you like those two colours they are perfect together...So have you had a root and decided what you are going to get on with next yet?? :D

I forgot to mention that I also made the dark blue pillow cases with the gold on the end. I think I am going to do matching cases with each new quilt I make now.

Thats something I have been thinking about, to make patchwork pillowshams to dress the bed...but then you are covering up part of the quilt...but I think it would be lovely!! :D

I have another QIP that I got from Quiltmaker magazine that I am doing, but I am changing the layout. The pattern is Happy to be Scrappy by Leslie Lott. It is a bright one with cream background and scrap squares. Its a split nine patch. I have all the blocks made (144 of them), and now I just have to square them off. Once the sewing starts it will be done in no time.............the squaring takes the time. I will post once I get it done.

Each 9 patch has to be the same size. Mine all have to be squared to 8" (7 1/2 inch finished). I just put them on my cutting matt and cut to that size. since my squares are finished at 2 1/2 inches I try to line up the center one so the end ones will be 2 3/4 because of the 1/4 inch seam. If you don't square them up to the same size, once they are sewn together they will pucker some if they are off.
They lay so much better when they are squared off. It makes a huge difference.

Thanks Barb, I had been doing it like that, but just wondered if there was any other way...as it can be a pain... :?

It gets time consuming also. I have to be in the mood to square off my blocks. I try to do a little at a time. Maybe I should start doing it as I go, but I am impatient at times. Once I get started on a quilt I will burn the candle at both ends to get it done. I so enjoy the finished products!!
