Finally finished my version of Easy Street
1 Attachment(s)
Here it is - my version of Easy Street. This is not my favorite quilt I've ever made; I should have followed my instincts and used a solid instead of the black & white fabrics. Live and learn! I'm sure one of my nieces will enjoy it.

Nice lots of colour

I love the colors. Great Quilt
I have begun to put mine together. It has been a very interesting pattern~I need to finish mine. Your color choices are great! Love your version!
Oh, I like your arrangement much better than the original -- and your colour scheme. I have all of the components together and am now squaring them up. Then the "fun" of putting it together. I went with Bonnie's colour scheme and so far hate it. But it's been a good learning experience.

I think it turned out great. You have the same problem I have when it comes to letting someone else choose my colors.
The colors look great to me.
I think it looks great! Whoever gets this quilt will love it!
I love the colors and I think one of your neices would treasure it! I need to get busy on mine I am on step 8 but have only put 1 big block together :o
Beautiful. love the colors.
This looks anything but "Easy". Beautiful job.
Love your fabric choices. Nicely done.
I set mine on point and used the as close to the exact colors as I could. I like your arrangement and colors much, much better. I think it looks much better.
I really like your version of easy street. I had to stop working on mine because of the holidays and then I made an applique quilt that I had to finish so I am really behind on finishing it but now that I see Bonnie's finished results I don't care for the lime green. I like the teal and the purple but I have been trying to decide which other color would take its place. Any suggestions would be helpful. Great job on your quilt.

you did a great job

That's how I look at it too. It was my first Bonnie mystery so I wanted to stick with her choices and I did for the most part. I just couldn't do the lime green. I did feel like I learned a lot from it; I conquered the Easy Angle and Companion rulers and learned I could make accurate flying geese without having to cut them down after. I design most of my own patterns, and this quilt showed me how important it is to take pressing issues into account when you're planning a design, especially if a beginner might use the pattern. My quilter had quite a time with this quilt because of the seam intersections, mostly where the geese met. Normally if I had multiple geese I would paper piece them, but because this was a mystery quilt we didn't know in advance what went with what. Good luck to everyone trying to finish their versions - you can do it! And thanks so much for all the kind words. |
I love it and one of your nieces will also. When I do something that doesn't turn out quite as I envisioned I try to just look at it as a learning experience!
Congrats on completing yours and it is just beautiful!! Whoever gets the quilt will absolutely love it!!

Thanks so much, everyone!
Lovely! What a colorful quilt!
I beg to differ. I really like the effect of the B&W in this quilt. So happy and jumpin'. Love it.

I like it!!!!

I like it! I think that the black and white just "adds to it."
I made Easy Street also and posted pictures in that thread. Also was not sure about the lime green and using that black and white. I thought it was too busy, but I stayed the course - made me work outside my comfort zone color wise. What I really like now is seeing the other colors used. Shows me that any colors would have looked good, just like Bonnie said and next time (yes, I am hooked and will participate again) I will work from my stash and choose colors I am more comfortable with. Other pluses, I learned to use the easy angle and companion angle and I had never worked with flying geese that small. Also, I like seeing yours done without borders. I think I am going to have to go that route. Otherwise, it will be too wide for my quilt frame. I have learned that I am one who thinks a quilt is not complete without a border so I am struggling with this. Seeing yours confirms that this one does not need that border so I just need to "git-r-done" so that I can mark it off my list. Thanks for sharing! |
WOW - Gorgeous, terrific job and thank you for sharing
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
I agree about my comfort zone - anything that makes me step outside it is good. Even if I don't like the results, it helps your creative juices flow and find what you do like.
I agree completely about the easy angle and companion angle. I use them all the time now, thanks to Bonnie. I'm glad you like it without the border. I've been into that style lately and it works well in a lot of situations. I'm looking forward to seeing yours finished! Lynda

I rather like the black. It defines the blocks. Nice job.
Looks really nice--I'm still plugging away at it a little bit every day. It will take me forever!

Wow! I think it's wonderful. I love the colors.
