Hello everyone!! I have been lurking around for a while now, watching and learning and enjoying all the pictures of everyones wonderful creations! So i finally got the nerve to trying posting a pic of my own. This is a t-shirt quilt I made a couple years ago for our local Relay for Life. It is made from donated tshirts from previous years. I was so proud whe it was auctioned off for a whopping $475!!!!! Hope you like it!!!

That certainly would be an honor to put your name on. Beautiful!!!

Welcome aboard. That's a great quilt and a wonderful donation. Not being a tshirt person I've never tried one of these. My quilting instructor makes them for people all the time but I've never even done anything I had to use a stabilizer on. You go, girl, great job!

It turned out so nice! And wow, it brought in some bucks! Congratulations!

kasmitty1 03-28-2010 05:20 AM

Very nice! Congrats on it bringing so much money. That had to have made you feel good. I'm thinking about doing one and donating it our search and rescue group as a fund raiser. I'm just so afraid my stuff wouldn't be good enough. You did excellent!

Welcome! I was afraid to post my first picture, too, but I quickly discovered that I got so many lovely comments from the quilters on this board that now my first thought on finishing a quilt it "yay- I can post a picture'.

sylvia77 03-28-2010 02:02 PM

I know what you mean. I was scared to post my first picture too but everyone is so nice. Even if someone has constructive criticism they do it in such a nice way, no one get's their feelings hurt. I have come to love this board!

mimee4 03-28-2010 03:08 PM

Great job. The quilt is well planned. And to have brought in so much...terrific.

sylvia77 03-29-2010 10:28 AM

When making t-shirt quilts, the first thing you want to do is apply stabilizer onto the backs of the shirts (after cutting to size). Most shirts are very stretchy and this helps with that.

akatammie 03-29-2010 12:23 PM

well I guess I was lucky, I didnt use stabilzers or anything, I did it all on machine and was surprised how well it turned out!! Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful comments!!

sylvia77 03-29-2010 05:16 PM

The first t-shirt quilt I did, I didn't stabilize (didn't know to) and it was ok. It was hard quilting by machine but I managed. It is just alot easier to stabilize if you plan on machine quilting, at least for me.
