Ok, now, I know this is not everyone's taste. The idea behind these curtains is a "sewing room". When you walk into your sewing room, you see all different colors and patterns, and that is what I wanted these curtains to emulate. Not matchy matchy to the decor, but theme fitting with the room's use. :)

I think they are cool!! :D If you get tired of them you can turn them into quilts!!

They look great. It's your room, do as you please. Looks really nice with the different colors.

i think they are cool as well... it's all about what inspires you...

Very creative!

Personally, I like them! Love green and purple and the proportions you chose is great.

DH says the ones I made above my sewing machine (and the one I made for the knee-hole space below my machine, to hide the stuff I have stored down there) look like they belong in Africa.

I like them....and have you thought about putting a pair of tie-backs on the sides? They would really look cool with each side tied back.

stitchinbee 10-19-2010 02:34 PM

actually, the fabrics are all the same width and length. i pleated the tops, and made them wide enough so that they would gather and scrunch on the rod.. (last minute decision... idea just popped in my head and i love the effect). i backed them with a sheet from walmart, and they are luxuriously heavy and sun blocking. if i were to buy them, i wouldn't mind paying $60 and upwards. :) Thanks for all of your comments.

i had planned on making tiebacks, but by experimenting, i found that i liked the line up of proportions when pushed all the way open to the sides. i was afraid the i would lose the whole effect by interrupting the flow of prints. :)

Great look for a sewing room! I used to have just toppers-took those down after 10 years to have just mini blinds. Now the color in my sewing room comes from scraps and fabrics lying around everywhere :)

Looks great to me and if you are happy with them, then I say that is most important.

They are really cool! and you know my most favorite thing about walking into a quilt store is the rainbow effect. =)

Lynnejean 10-19-2010 03:05 PM

I think they are fun! The purple fabric is FAB!!!

Neat! I only have one window and my curtains are lace to let as much light in as possible! LOL!

stitchinbee 10-19-2010 06:00 PM

my sewing room is upstairs, and i truly love the light, however my single window faces the sun the majority of the day, and the streaming light makes it unbearbly hot, even with the central unit and fan running. and i am very hot natured. plus i wanted the lining on the back because it gives them a more finished look. :)

Iluv2quilt 10-19-2010 06:06 PM

Very cool! I like your way of thinking. My sewing room is decorated with doll quilts and anything I want to display on my design wall, so it's colorful as well. Great idea for curtains!
