I purchased this fabric for my 4 year old grandaugher before she was born. I had all the squares cut and over half of them quilted. I completely forgot that I had even started the crazy thing.
I found it during one of my cleaning sprees then deciding I had far to many UFO's sitting around. So...here is the finished project. Now I am not sure what I am going to do with it since I have since started another quilt for her, since I forgot I had started this one.  Maybe I will sell it on ebay then buy more fabric :!:  Lynn Lavender Rag Quilt |
Why not just give her both since this one was to be hers anway?

Very feminine colors and cozy!

This is a really nice looking quilt. Love the lavender colors. I also like the way you did the border around it....different than the way I do it, but like yours better. Thanks for sharing. How big are your squares. And did you use chenille for some of the squares?
|
Yep, a kid can never have too many quilts ---just ask my GS.
|
Oooo very pretty and snuggly looking :D
Maybe one quilt for her to use at your home and one for her's :D:D:D |
Very nice! A girl cannot have too many of grandma's quilts.

All of the squares are flannel with warm & natural sandwiched between and measure 8 x 8 with a ½" seam allowance.
The border rectangles measure 4½ x 10". I DID have to add an end piece to the top and bottom because the border didn't match up perfectly. Some of the seams are 5/8" (in the border) instead of ½". I didn't do any math before construction. But...I figured it's a rag quilt who cares. I did a FM meandering stitch on each square and a scrolly stitch on the border rectangles. Trying to get lots of FM practice. I have 8 grandkids, five of them girls. I could give it to one of the other girls. Or...I like the suggestion of keeping it at Grandma's for an extra blanket. Then they would probably fight over which one gets to use it. I normally have all of them spend the night when they come. I know...glutten for punishment. :D Thanks so much for all the warm compliments. Sure makes a gal feel good. I vote to give her both. She can take one in the car with her for the cold winter months if she lives in a cold weather place! It is always nice to have a quilt in the car to cover your legs with!
|
Wow what a beautiful quilt..Love the way you did the border.

That is so pretty. I love rag quilts. So warm and cuddly. I would still give it to her.

Nice colors together. Aren't these fun to do? Looks like a great job so surely you'd make enough for more fabric selling it on eBay. Good luck!

Nice! Your granddaughter will love it!
