I've had a tough year-my back completely went out on me in January and after a lot of PT I was back in action by May. Then in June I lost a close friend to ovarian cancer. Bravest woman I've ever met. I just couldn't get myself moving and sewing again but wanted to make a memory quilt for Pat's partner of 32 years. I was off last week and finally got to it. The to is all pieced and waiting for borders which I hope to get done this weekend. Then I have to figure out how to get it quilted. I am terrible at FMQ and want this to be special. A picture of Pat will be on the back and some special items meaningful to Carol. So I thought I'd show it before it's finished and maybe that will spur me on to get it done. Keep in mind I'm fairly new to quilting. Weird variation of a D9P.

I love how those colors and prints play well together. Great job.

Your motives are wonderful...there are some gifts that words cannot complete. Complete it to validate your own feelings for your friend.

Thank you for the encouragement. I chuckle when I look at the fabrics I chose. Carol is a brilliant business woman always in suits-even her weekend clothes are khakis and polos. Pat had a wonderful zeal for life and a great sense of humor-her favorite color was red so I think she helped with choosing the fabric. I'll just tell Carol I didn't have any houndstooth or Burberry fabric in my stash. She's a vegetarian and I've always had this fantasy of making her a tote-very conservative on the outside with the Lorelei(sp) veggie ladies on the inside.

First welcome back and so glad you are feeling better. I love the colors and the layout. Beautiful gesture and gives me the idea to make one for my DB whose lost his wife in June from breast cancer.
