Finish From Last Summer

So, I hate to do binding. I pile the tops up on my bannister until they start to get buried and I finally get around to binding one.
This was all scraps, except for a couple of the solids. It's single sized, as it's eventually for charity. The pattern is called Whirligig. Thanks for looking! Watson |
Ha. love that. I sent that to my friend in England and she is now on her third. She evidently likes it too!!!
love the bright colors! |
That's an eye catcher -- might have to put that on my list.

Love your quilt. Shame you don’t live near me. I enjoy doing binding and look forward to that part of quilting. It’s sort of saying “when this is finished another one completed.”
Cute pattern...I love to do binding!
Lovely happy quilt!
Love it. I have the pattern printed out and it’s on my to do list.

I hate the hand stitching of binding so perfected the machine version of stitching on the backside, then top stitching from the front. It is fast and easy and secure for those drag around kid quilts too. I don't show any of my quilts so it works for me.
I love your bright eye catcher. Some charity will love it. |
Watson, I know what you mean. I wouldn't mind binding as much if I could machine sew both sides but I can't because it never comes out right. So I sew the back by hand. I should watch some videos on that subject.
Your quilt is wonderful! I love that secondary design of hourglasses. Such a happy quilt! |
Very bright and pretty quilt. I love doing binding as it is so relaxing while I sit and watch TV
Wow! this is very pretty! I love the bright colors and the very colorful bindings. You did a great job with all the finishing's. Thanks for sharing.
Another happy fun quilt! I love binding its very relaxing especially during the summer when I can sit outside and enjoy the weather, an adult beverage and a good audiobook.
What a bright and happy scrappy! I love this one too. Great quilting.
It is a wonderful quilt! I just love the colorful way it "spins" across the top. Do you have a machine binding foot? It takes the time and effort out of binding.
Beautiful quilt and quilting, great colors.
Cool quilt, Watson! I don’t enjoy the handstitching part of binding either, so I only hand stitch bindings for show quilts these days.
Here’s what I do to get a good looking machine stitched binding: For double fold binding 1. stitch binding to back. 2. Flip binding to front and use wonder clips to hold in place 3. Use adjustable zipper foot adjusted so needle is inside the left notch on the foot as you are facing the machine. 4. Keep left edge of foot at edge of binding and stitch down with a straight stitch removing wonder clips as you come to them. Rob |
That is very, very pretty. Love how the border works.
This is one of those ‘pretty’ and ‘makes you feel good’ quilts. I love it and that’s for the link!
Very cute, happy quilt! Someone will love it for sure!!
I think this pattern would work well for a baby quilt if its done with fewer blocks. Thanks to sahansen44 for posting the pdf of the pattern.
Super nice!! Love it!
It's so bright and cheerful!
Very pretty. What a fun summery looking quilt.
Watson you always pick such great patterns and colours, beuatiful
What a great quilt! Love the bright colors. Isn't is funny how we all have some point of the process where there is a roadblock. For me it's getting the sandwich together. I stack quilts too but they are all at the flimsy stage. I love the binding stage. But not the label stage.

Love the bright colors!
