Finished and almost finished

My younger son got married on May 1st, no actual ceramony just a couple of friends and minister in the park. On Father's Day we will be going to their new home in Bellingham to celebrate. Since his older brother and wife got a quilt for their wedding and handmade teddy bears the race was on to get them completed. I just finished the quilt and am almost done with the teddy bears (will post pictures when done). The quilt is from a kit I bought on Craftsy, it's called the Ice Cream Quilt - designed by Bobbi Penniman using Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it and had to buy it and then the wedding happened and it seemed perfect for newlyweds.
The second quilt top is for older son's wife-she brought me the fabric from their trip to Hawaii in February. I decided to make a lap quilt for her birthday so working to get it completed by end of July, just need to quilt and bind. I did keep enough of the fabric to make a table topper for myself.

Bellingham, WA. We live in Snohomish and older son lives in North Seattle. I'm lucky to have both my sons within a hour drive.

You've done a wonderful job with these bright colors going with the patterns. Yummy! I am working on a quilt with Kaffe Fassett fabrics and don't like it, but love, love yours! Those DILs have a gem for a MIL. Hope they appreciate you big time.

Barbara T 06-01-2017 04:27 AM

Wonderful cheerful fabric and it ties in so well with the fact they got married in the park! Good job.

ArtsyOne 06-01-2017 05:04 AM

I've seen that kit on Craftsy and have always thought it was pretty, but it's so nice to see one made by an actual person (!) - it looks great!

Billy'swife 06-01-2017 06:58 AM

I wish my pictures did the fabric color justice. They are more vibrant than in the pictures which give them a yellow color due to lighting. The hardest thing about this pattern is you have to be very precise in cutting strips, sewing a 1/4" seam and follow the instructions to square the quilt every 5-6 rows.

Good work. I particularly like the expanded pinwheels

Hulalulu 06-01-2017 08:57 AM

It's so GREAT to see Hawaiian fabrics used! Living and selling fabric here, rarely do we see the finished projects, tho' from time to time someone will email a photo. Others will say "love the fabric but it doesn't work on the mainland".... well you showed us how attractive and colorful a well-designed pattern enhances the fabrics! Mahalo for posting this...
