Didn't use a pattern, just saw a picture I liked and drew it out.

Will make a lap size like this as soon as I finish my blocks for the Sunny Stars quilt. (Got them half done.) Thanks to Angelia for the advice on that one. Both are beautiful. Loving my retirement, scrappies, and you folks on this board.

You are most welcome, Jan.

I keep coming back to this quilt--so beautiful. I'm trying to puzzle out why the circles pop out--I can't seen to find a color/value combination that they have in common to create the illusion. Insight, anyone? I'm hoping to start one soon, whether I understand it or not. :)

Nifty! The circle illusion is eye-catching, and I like the way the design continues into the border. Scraps are wonderful to play with!

That is just so pretty....and really fun how the secondary patterns come and go as you look at it....kinda makes it "sparkle".

Love this quilt. I too was trying to figure out why the circles pop. And it seemed to me some didn't quite pop as a circle and some did more than others. Here's my theory(not sure it is correct but it is how I think it is working)-the ones that pop as a circle seem to have the 4 inner triangles the same color and the cross patches are either medium or light values. The ones with darker patches across the center of the block don't seem to make as strong a circle secondary.
