I used 520 magazine boards and now I have lots of scraps tp cut at different sizes. I did not put anything on the broads that was less than 1/2 Yd. It took me about six days and I have them by color and some by theme. My shelfs are deep enough for a stack behind the ones I am showing.

I'm in awe of anyone who can get and KEEP their stash under control and organized. Way to go!

SusieQOH 01-04-2021 05:20 PM

That looks wonderful!!! I love the way your shelves pull out.
You must be thrilled. Lots of work but the result is great.

OMG! Looks wonderful and so pretty! It does take a lot of time but the payoff is great. I love shopping my stash and even organized my fat quarters. Job well done! Be careful you don't break your arm patting yourself on your back!

Looks so neat and organized!

EasyPeezy 01-04-2021 06:49 PM

Pretty stash!

Julie, You have a great sense of humor and you always make me giggle.
Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I hope I don't mess it all when I start to pull out. Happy 2021 to all!

That looks wonderful....,like your very own store. I think it will be easy to keep now that it is all done. Impressive for sure. Happy sewing in 2021!

Great job. I know how wonderful it must feel to start the New Year on an organized right foot! I did that with my fabrics several years ago but need to reorganize, but not rewind. Somehow they never get put back in the same place : ( I do need to wind a few more acquisitions however LOL

Looks beautiful!

You’re gonna reap all your hard work and diligence when you “shop” your stash at home. Now it’s easy to see what you have! No more looking every where for the elusive fabric you just know you have “some where” ha ha

You did a great job!

Karamarie 01-05-2021 04:27 PM

You sure have a lot of variety. Just like picking out fabric at a quilt shop. Enjoy!

Jingle 01-05-2021 06:15 PM

Good for you. I see so many beautiful colors.

sewingsuz 01-05-2021 08:15 PM

Thanks everyone, I am not tackling the scraps.

I’m with easypeezy. Can you come to my house next!? Great job.

Must be a great feeling to have it all done and a tidy outcome where you can shop your stash so much easier. How much of your fabric did you get rid of while doing this project? Such an accomplishment with 520 boards!

juliasb 01-08-2021 09:17 AM

This is the plan for smaller pieces of fabric, less than 1 yard with the exception of my repo fabrics. The repos will go on the comic boards but may have a yard or more. I have started the process but am far from finished. I purchased 200 boards and know this will be many more than I need, at least that is what I am hoping. Yours look great . I will have to order more clips though.

Clmay 01-08-2021 09:54 AM

What kind of boards did you use and where did you get them? I have a lot of fabric and am getting to move. I would love to organize my new sewing room.

Your fabrics look so neat and organized. I am sure it feel so good to get everything put away so neatly. Good for you on just working continually to get it done.

you inspired me. I started with the 4 packages of new fabric that arrived, then moved onto my stash. It's not an easy undertaking! Ordered another 100 boards with clips because I'm nearing the end of the first 100! thank you for lighting a fire under me. Will definitely post pics when done.

Julienm1 01-10-2021 06:34 AM

OK time to fess up you guys. If you moved your fabric to comic boards in the past 30 days and have been shopping your stash, is it still tidy? (OK to lie)

lindaschipper 01-11-2021 04:17 AM

Nice to be able to see what you have to use at a glance. Mine are folded in dresser drawers and each measured and marked with hang tags on little safety pins. Each drawer contains a different color and I don't have to worry about sunlight fading my precious material.

tinlizzy 01-12-2021 06:19 AM

I second the pull-out shelf comment. Love the idea! Did you make them?

copycat 01-16-2021 03:48 AM

Congrats on organizing your stash! I like that you organize by color and theme. How are you organizing your fabric less than 1/2 yard cuts? bins or totes?

RedGarnet222 01-17-2021 03:39 PM

Great work! Now if you can only remember every thing in there so you don't repeat buy. LOL!
I put shelving like this in my pantry. I love it.
