Finished Challenge Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
First I want to say I do not post very often but I do browse everyday! Morning coffee and Quilting Board. Thank you all for my mornings..LOL
Not a very good picture but ......here it is anyway. Two friends and I gave ourselves a challenge to make an Irish Chain quilt but we could not purchase any fabric - had to use what we had. Didn't think this through and sort of run out of fabric. Calling it Flight Over Irish Mist. If I name it I get to call it done. LOL Thanks for looking, |
What a great challenge & you made a very pretty quilt top using what you had. I really like what you did. I love the Irish Chain pattern. Thanks for sharing. You need to post more often!
This is really cute and unique! very creative!
Bravo! How did you applique the flowers. Can you tell I don't do much appliques. It will be a next step in my learning curve! I am the same: morning coffee and QB. A nice way to start the day |
Pretty spectacular answer to a challenge! You win!
I really like this, and your "adjustment" to the typical Irish Chain is very nice. I find the usual Irish Chain a little boring, but yours is very interesting.
You're very clever and imaginative. Beautiful quilt.
You are very creative, and the quilt turned out lovely!
Very pretty results.
beautiful work, love your creativity
It's lovely
It's beautiful, Barb!

Breautiful. BrendaK
it looks great... love that it fades to pale in the upper right
Wow, you have made a beautiful challenge quilt!
I simply love how this turned out. Great job.
Thanks everyone. If anyone has any ideas on how to quilt this please share.
QuiltnNan - Far right fading was a result of poor planning. I ran out of colors that matched. LOL helou - The applique will be raw edge - guess it is not finished yet but close! One of the other women used all batiks in teal colors on white background and set it on pointe. Looks great. The other is still struggling - (read as hasn't even cut fabric yet but has picked out colors). LOL |
very unique quilt, love the pattern
Love it and you are really creative!
Really like that!! I like the way the scattered 9-patches show so well on the background, also the swallows and flowers.
Very pretty! A unique idea for adding the swallows and flowers. :)
How imaginative! You've brought a simple Irish Chain up to an entirely new level. Really a great idea.
So very delicate and pretty.
Congrats on being done! I like your fabric choices and placement of dark and light blocks...very creative! Adding the applique to the light side really changed the look of the quilt. I, also am part of the morning coffee and QB group! Thanks for sharing your quilt with us!
nice IC quilt from scraps...never would have thought to make one in scraps.....very nice!!!
Very cute quilt; I'm with bailey - never posted pics but LOVE going through all the posts with a cup of coffee (as like now!)
Without seeing the others, I agree you win. Very creative. Love Irish Chains & yours is lovely. Great setting in dividing the sky & land with the dark chain. Makes a very interesting quilt. Kathy
Beautiful quilt! Love the pastels.
That's a real winner. Could you show us the other challengers' quilts as well? I love the freedom feeling in your quilt.
very nice job!!!
I would call it beautifully done.
Very interesting quilt and such an artistic approach to a traditional pattern. Very nicely done.
That is a really cute quilt---love everything about it.
I think that you have created a "magical miracle", it is light and airy and fit for fairies.
beautiful quilt! like your tag line, also :D
I would never have thought that you ran out of fabric by looking at your quilt. It looks like it was beautifully and creatively designed!
Great improvisation.
I like it. I love the improvisation. I'm not fused over the color changes. Especially as you challenged each other to use only what you had on hand. I think the changes and additions make it interesting.
My suggestion on quilting, A simple crosshatch. But, NOT through the appliques. I would go right up to them but, not through them. I give it two :thumbup: !! And, bonus, it sounds like you had fun making it. |
