Finished for a Friend
1 Attachment(s)
A sweet senior friend had these exchange blocks for almost 15 years and decided she wanted them finished for her daughter for Christmas. Thank goodness she had some extra fabric because it is really hard to make a queen sized quilt top out of only 12 blocks!! I made 4 more blocks in the same style, and then added triple sashing and borders until it measured 95 inches square! It's off to the quilter tomorrow.
Another UFO no longer hiding in a drawer! Thanks for looking. |
Lovely quilt! How nice of you to finish it for your friend.
Love how you were able to add to and finish this lovely holiday quilt. I am sure your friend is thrilled!
Love it! I especially like the delectable mountains borders!
Beautiful quilt, love it !
You did a great job finishing this. You were lucky she had the extra fabrics you needed
That's an impressive finish and the border is just right!
Thank you for your kind words. I actually wanted to put the Delectable mountains the other way round because I thought they would emulate Christmas trees. But I could not get them to look decent in the mitered corners and this border cried out for mitered corners. So the trees are hanging from the ceiling!

It's beautiful!!! It will be a treasured gift!

What a gorgeous and generous finish. The quilt is a stunning vision of friendship and the recipients will be thrilled with your expert combination of details to achieve a cohesive design that just sings Christmas.

It's amazing how well-considered and -designed borders can really add to a quilt's overall appeal. This is just lovely and the sashing and borders feel like they were part of the plan from the beginning.
Outstanding!
Wonderful holiday quilt.
You finished it beautifully. Great job!
Beautiful Christmas quilt. Longarm quilters are usually backed up this time of year, hopt it's finished on time for gift giving.
Great job! You are, indeed, a good friend to take on such a task. It is gorgeous.

GingerK ... amazing work on your part in turning those 12 blocks into a stunning quilt. Most would have just slapped on plain borders, but congratulations to you for all the thought and planning you put into this. The fine block borders and the secondary pattern created with the prints really sets off your friend's work. Then how many flying geese? And not stopping there before before adding the delectable mountains. And more of those fine border strips mixed in all along the way. Now for the LA work and it'll gets even better!!
Your friend and her daughter are going to be so thrilled with your creation for them! What a wonderful friend you are to them, GingerK! Congratulations!! |
Great finish!
