I really like this. Each block is 24" so it would be easy to do but I'm sure the black HSTs took time. They add a lot to the quilt. Very nice.

What a fabulous looking quilt! And what a great idea to make really large blocks out of this pattern. I am going to keep that it mind for future quilts. I too think adding that bit of black makes this one or more steps higher on the "wonderful quilt" rating scale.
