Here's some pics of a miniature quilt that I finished tonight. I made this for a friend and fellow quilter who asked if I could make him one to use in lectures. So I said, Sure! It measures 21" x 27". I made up this pattern to show how a simple 9-patch block can be made to look intricate simply by color placement and adding HSTs to 2 corners of each block. Glad to be done with it! :D

Way to go Eddie!! I love it. I know the feeling tho when you are ready to be done before the project is finished! Happens to me all the time! I do love your color choices.

What kind of lecture is he doing that he needs this mini quilt?

sewnsewer2 02-19-2010 09:43 PM

Good job Eddie!

I'm not really sure! He speaks to a lot of different groups, though, and is an art instructor by profession, so I think it's just to show different styles of quilting.

And Rhonda - while working with these little 1" squares, I had SOOOO much admiration for you and how you work with such tiny pieces so much smaller than this! :D

Rhonda 02-19-2010 09:50 PM

LOL Eddie my pieces don't start that small! Tho I do use 1" hsts and bostons. And Dorothy just made me some Star Point 1" blocks and Kansas Dugout 1" blocks. Those mostly go in keychains and magnets.

Just thought I would let you know I added this thread to the miniature virtual section. Any time you have any minis you are welcome to add it yourself. Of course I like to encourage people to check out the minis!! There is lots of interesting stuff there!

blahel 02-19-2010 10:15 PM

jljack 02-19-2010 10:24 PM

Hey, Eddie...cute, cute!!!

Rhonda 02-19-2010 10:27 PM

You know Eddie if I use a 12 block by 12 block section I could make a hot pad out of this pattern. I love the design. Of course I would do it with my cut down method in 4 patch sections. Love the idea. Is it ok if I use it?

Sure! I'd love to see it when you get done!

Way to go Eddie. Be careful you may have caught the mini bug.

MadQuilter 02-19-2010 11:35 PM

Any size, one of my favorite pattern is the 9-patch. How purdy!

barnbum 02-20-2010 06:12 AM

That's cool!! That's small!! I can understand why you'd want to be done. I bet your buddy appreciates your work.

Esqmommy 02-20-2010 08:18 AM

That's great Eddie. And it is "intricate" because getting all those small pieces and color placement right is not easy!

Hey, by the way, there's a new man on board: I was thinking you might want to meet him - he's a newbie and looks like he could use some encouragement and support!

Very, very nice Eddie... I love those smaller quilts, I made a bunch of them for premies at childrens hospitol. I wonder How those babies are doing now. Please make some more of these I love your Ideas.

amma 02-20-2010 12:21 PM

Stunning!!! I love how you made such a simple block look so complex :D:D:D
This is going to be an awesome teaching guide :D:D:D

I have to invent a new word to describe just Eddie's quilts & designs. I googled definition of fabulous & a couple of off the cuff are primo & rad, so I'll use "primo" for this design. Sounds Italian or Spanish.

dkabasketlady 02-20-2010 06:23 PM

Fantastic and fabulous color choices!

sewingladydi 02-20-2010 08:06 PM

Lostn51 02-20-2010 08:54 PM

Eddie you did it again!!! I wish I had time to go out to my studio and work on a quilt, but right now I have too many things to do.

Great job as usual!!!

Billy

Ronster 02-21-2010 10:08 AM

This looks fantastic. Great use of colors. It would take me two months to make that by hand...

craftybear 03-21-2010 11:08 PM

Awesome, you need to start writing your 1st quilt book as you are designing cool quilts. You know all of us on the quiltingboard site would buy your patterns and books.

Think about it!!!! ok, now do it, (really)

ConnieF 03-21-2010 11:19 PM
