I got a jelly roll of Kona solids in New York City and had to have it. I fell in love with a pattern posted here a few weeks ago called Welcome Spring by Moda. This is not exactly a welcome to spring, but I did my adaptation of the pattern and this is what I came up with. My husband thought I was making a flag, so I called it: Flag for a New Country.
Is the first time I dare to do free hand feathers. I marked them and they didn't come out too bad. One corner has a full wreath of feathers and all the rest are overlapping. |
Wow! That quilt is beautiful, and your feathers! Amazing!!
Great job!   |

Very pretty and your feathers turned out great. It will be ages before I graduate beyond a simple meander.

Thanks a lot for the comments. That is the whole quilt. When DH thought it was a flag I decided not to put a border on it. It has a black binding.
Thanks to all. |

Thanks to all. |
Beautiful quilting-I'm jealous
Nice! Wow! Beautiful!!!!
Love your feathers. How did you mark them and did you do them on a long arm?
I used a plastic template I purchased and marked with a very cheap Bic pencil on the white and with a chalk pencil on the colored parts. I only marked three or four half circles at a time. I would lay it flat, press and mark it. I stitch on my Bernina 630 (no long arm here). Pressing often kept the back perfectly flat, with no puckers.
Great job on the feathers. I wouldn't have known you were new at it.
What an interesting quilt! Fantastic job on the feathering!!!
Great quilting...really stunning design idea.
It's amazing. Very striking, and I love your feathers. I have not mastered feathers yet. I'm good with spirals, but I need to expand.
Amazing! So wish I could do feathers, am too scared to even try. Do you use a stitch regulator on your machine? They all look so perfect. Great job!
That is beautiful and your feathers are awesome. Great job.
