My daughter's "Project Runway" quilt is totally done now. Last time I posted a pic of it, it didn't have borders, so now it does. It was super fast and easy and perfect for her. These blocks are a whopping 19" finished!! And the quilt itself is exactly 84" x 65".

In the most recent issue of "Quilts and More" I completely fell in love with their Wild Flowers pin cushions!! So I finally got one made up for myself. I was slow to finish because there was hand sewing involved, but I sucked it up and completed it last night!! :D It's bigger than I had expected it to be, and not as perfect looking as the ones in the magazine, but I love it!

Great quilts and pin cushion! Is that the machine you use to sew with? It's beautiful!!

sewjoyce 09-22-2008 08:36 AM

Beautiful quilt! And the pincushion is really cute!

Does your antique Singer work?

Brazen 09-22-2008 09:34 AM

Thanks ladies! The Singer DOES work.... when it has an unbroken leather treadle belt! :( I recently bought the machine and hubby and I are looking around locally for any vintage machine shops before we resort to buying parts online for it.

So no, currently I don't sew with it... but I will in the future! My sewing projects will be people powered then!! :D

Your daughter's quilt is beautiful! I love the combination of black and pink. The pincushion is adorable. I collect pincushions but haven't made any yet. And I LOVE your antique Singer! I want one really bad. :D

My parents have one of those machines at the end of their hallway. Its very old. I dont think it works anymore cause they couldnt find a belt for it.

Brazen 09-22-2008 05:44 PM

Hey Henry, without knowing what machine your parents have, or if they care to replace the belt... but there are websites that sell replacement parts for these old vintage machines!

Here's an example of a site that I'm probably going to use:

Brazen, I'm sure your daughter has HUGE hugs for you for making her that quilt! If I were a project runway fan, I couldn't think of anything better.

Love your machine too, I think the old singers are the prettiest things...when I grow up and get a "real" house, I hope to find some old machines

Bevanger 09-23-2008 08:07 AM

Love them both :D

Brazen 09-23-2008 05:45 PM

Thank you!! I love my vintage Singer a LOT more than I ever would have thought. I'm not normally an antiquey kind of person. LOL

I think I'm going to do another pin cushion in 3 different fabrics... I wish I had someone to give those sorts of things as Xmas gifts to.

sewnsewer2 09-23-2008 06:16 PM

Nice job on both projects!

Absolutely beautiful quilt! And what an adorable pincushion! You should send a picture to the magazine you got the pattern from...you never know, they may publish it. Magazines love it when their readers tackle their projects. Awesome job :)
