Finished the quilting

Finished quilting this quilt for my DDIL's Mother. I only quilt my own quilts but broke my rule for this one. I guess the Mother's sister did the piecing and the embroidery on the blocks. Didn't want ANY quilting in the embroidery blocks and I'm hoping the batting doesn't bunch up from washing.

What a darling quilt you two made. Hopefully, it won't be washed too often.

What kind of batting did you use? I like to embroider blocks and so do quilting around them. I make sure I get batting that allows quilting 8 to 10 inches apart. So far, the quilts have survived and not had the batting bunch up. Granted they are not washed more than 3 to 4 times a year, but they range in age from 3 to 30 years and are doing well.

If you're not sure about the batting/washing, you can"trace" some of the images with a monofilament thread. It won't show and you'll know that the quilt will wear well.

Very pretty! You did an awesome job quilting it.

You did a great job quilting this and your MIL's aunt the embroidery. Depending on your batting, you should be fine but I think I would do what MaryKatherine suggests and use monofilament thread and go around the outside of the embroidered designs. This took a lot of work on everyones part and you want it to last.
