Beautiful. Did you design it, or have a pattern?
Hi Sheila! I didn't design it. It came from the Spring 2009 McCall's Scrappy Quilts magazine. You know how, once in a while, you see a pattern and you just immediately say, "I HAVE to make this! I have to! I have to! I have to!" That's the reaction I had when I saw this pattern in the magazine. I didn't care how big it was going to be, I just had to make it. LOL!

GRAND!
now, I have a question about your border - - how did you decide which colors to put where in your checkerboard border?
It looks so "scrappy", but sooo planned!
Did you make a formula? Did you just pull little squares out of a brown bag?
Did you sew strips, cut into pieces, throw the pieces into the air and pick them up however?
(Can't tell I have control issues, can you? LOL)
Those squares look so "orderly" ... can you give me a hint how you got all those colors balanced? <wave>

Thank you for your kind words about my quilt. The pattern came with a photograph which I tried to match with my own fabrics. That helped tremendously. As far as the border (on the four-patches), I just made sure that I sewed the squares contrasting between light and dark blue. I hope that helps.

omak 08-19-2010 09:44 AM

Miss Ethyl, that is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you for sharing <wave>
