What a great idea to coffee dye your fabric to make it what you want, and I didn't see the trees until you mentioned them and I took a closer look. They do look like they take a long time to make them. But they do look good in this quilt. I especially like the paw prints on the back and those don't look quick to make either! I can't help but admire the panel as well. Very nice to look at, for sure. Your brother doesn't know how special you are to make him such a beautiful, time-consuming quilt.
