Its all in the organization and preparation, now its all about fun seeing it grow.
The pattern is Dereck Lockwood's "Disco". (Love what outdoor light does to colors.)

Diane K M 08-16-2015 02:46 AM

Beautiful. I am doing my first bargello,, Derek Lockwood's Illusion. I only have 7 rows to go. Thought it was going to be so difficult, but you only make it as hard as you want. Following directions, which I read several times before I even started, it is really quite simple. Can't wait until finished! I made something similar to a slide rule to follow which row I was working on, on the Illusion chart. Makes it much easier to know where I was at.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone! I agree with you, Diane K M, about bargello's. This is just the 2nd one I've done and like every other quilt pattern I do, I re-write the pattern (and enlarge, for this one, the assembly charts using Excel)

It is true that they are not as difficult as they seem. Maybe some think that you have to sew all the little squares together instead of making strips.

I really like Lockwood's patterns! Be sure to show your "Illusion" !
