Beautiful work! I love hand quilting, but only do straight lines. :) I might have to branch out.

MellieKQuilter 06-06-2011 05:30 AM

I did mark the pattern first. :-) with a disappearing pen. thanks for the encouragement everyone!

From what I can see, you have done a great job. I am still dragging my feet on attempting hand quilting. You give me hope.

I think the batting and thread make all the difference. I have tried to do it a couple times, but felt totally frustrated. I was using warm and natural batting and regular thread. I never got past a few stiches and then gave up. This time (after reading things on the board) I used a "puffy" batting and actual hand quilting thread (its kinda thick and stiff). Works MUCH better.

Thanks, I will remember that.

I'm working on my first wallhanging as well. I'm planning on handquilting it. I hand quilt most of my projects, but I wanted to start getting into fans, feathers, flowers and scrolls and wanted something small to showcase the stitches.

Great job!

daisydebby 06-06-2011 08:36 AM

It's looking great. Keep up the good work and let us know/show us when you're done with your project:)

I am trying to learn it also but I think it is going to be a winter hobby. No time in the summer.

I did this mostly in a long car ride this weekend, 4 hours each way. Perfect way to pass the time. :)

BeeNana 06-06-2011 03:35 PM

You should be happy with this.
