First let me say that I love the look of gingham! What Deedles and I found to be hard about it first of all, is that it is hard to cut it straight. Usually it is not perfectly straight on the bolt, and you can spend a lot of time trying to cut it straight and still not get it right. For me, when the pattern isn't striaght, it looks twisted even though its not.

Second, it is really thin, which lends to the third problem I had with it. It contorted a lot for me. Now this may have just been me and my experience with it, I'm not sure. It seemed like every seam I had that met the gingham, it would end up that I was short on the gingham side. Then it would twist and pull and end up looking like my lines in the quilt were all messed up. If you look closely you can see some of it. Everything else ended up meeting well except that, and made the whole thing look like it was put together a little shoddy to me.

Overall, I am happy with it, I did pretty good on the quilting, it being so small, and the binding went quickly too. I don't think that anyone that doesn't quilt would ever notice anything that I am talking about. So, if anyone has any tricks to using gingham that I just don't know, feel free to share! ~ Karen

Your'e gingam looks good to me, but if you are not happy with it get a cupon and try some hand woven fabric! It is better quality and always behaves for me.I sudgest the cupon because I wouldn't buy without one!lol

What a cute baby quilt. You did great. I have never worked with gingham and won't be after reading your post. Thanks for the heads up. I bet your friend loves the quilt. Great job.
