Well, I'm a convert. Have had the pattern for quite some time, finally decided to try it. Overall happy with the results, did notice the contrast is a little crooked on one side. Used decorator weight for the bottom panels, which I like. I also added a magnetic clasp to the main bag lining, and a piece of hook and loop on the pocket. Probably a gift for a "chosen sister" who will give me feedback for future changes.

Front of bag. Next one will be straighter!

Inside, showing magnetic clasp. I like a plain colored lining, easier to see what you want

Back of bag. I made the handles shoulder length also.

You pegged that one right! LOL. Our store still has it too. I have a fondness for floral co ordinates. Plus the stripe went with it too. Had the lining in my stash, almost matches.

Very pretty. I agree with the solid color for the lining, it does make things easier to see.

Hobby Lobby huh? Looks like I am making a trip soon! Love the fabric - and your bag is beautiful!

Great job. Especially for the first one.
I still haven't worked up my courage enough to try one. 8-)

I absolutely love this bag.

Question? Could you put a zipper on the top? Always stuff my purse so full, I worry about spilling out.

QuiltforPD 10-21-2010 05:57 AM

Very Cute!!!

Love your bag. I've been looking and admiring everyone's bow tuck purses for quite some time now, trying to get up the courage to try one. Although everyone says they're easy, it looks difficult. I already have a lot of purse patterns that I'm afraid to try and right now I really can't afford to invest in another pattern that I won't use. However, since yours is so nice, you have me thinking hard about it!

laughingquilter 10-21-2010 08:13 AM

Y'know, I have this pattern, just haven't made it yet. I love your colors - you've inspired me, I've got to get mine done.

Some sewers on here have added a zip. I haven't tried, but have been thinkin' on it. Challenge will be sizing the length of the zipper so the bag opens nice and wide.
