Just bought an embroidery machine, here is the link to the original
topic. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-117864-1.htm Here is my little elephant! (hopefully) Pink elephant again |
Used two paper towels as stabilizer, worked pretty good! The feet and tusks got a little misaligned I think. I need better scissors too. It is about the size of a quarter, not that that really helps people from outside the USA. I think it is pretty cute. I plan on using it on something for my soon to be niece, due date May 2. I really need to finish her quilt too. Too bad I have a new distraction.

Cute!

I never would have thought of using paper towels as a stabilizer. I have just bought a brother embroidery machine but haven't had time to use it yet. to busy cleaning up all the dust and soot that came into my craft room when they cleared the house away. I had planned on making a start today but after seeing all the mess I decided it would be better to get cleaned up first so it wouldn't get into my new machines. I have told DH to tell me next time he is going to make dust so I can cover everything in sheets.

She's so cute! nice job!

The paper towels were suggested by a lady on the other thread, coffee filters and used dryer sheets were also suggested at least for practice. I can sympathize litacats, I'm so glad I didn't have to wait until tomorrow! Hope you get to use your machine soon. I bought a used Brother 270D. I think I got a good deal, lots of thread was included. Thanks for the compliments!

Congratulations on your new machine-you will love it. But, may I suggest you do some research on stabilizers the items you mentioned are not recommended. Check with your LQS who sells embroidery machines-they will lead you in the right direction. The reason I say all this is from experience. Lets put it this way inferior products produce inferior results. I'm telling you this so you won't be disappointed down the road when you get more experienced. In the mean time enjoy your new machine.

Thanks for the information, I have since bought some stabilizer. I was kinda worried that the paper towels would produce a lot of lint. Thank you for making sure I knew what I was getting into! :)

Hope you enjoy your new machine. I too just got a new embroidery machine, a Brother 4500D. I'm having so much fun with it. Right now I'm making "Cinderella" bags for my granddaughters 5th birthday party. I'm glad to hear you purchased proper stabilizer. You will have hours of fun with your new machine!

My husband said I'm turning into a twelve year old with a bedazzler. I've only done two designs, I swear! Thinking about embroidery everything though!

cute elephant!
|
Very cute. Aren't new toys great.

You are going to love embroidering. That elephant is so cute. I make my quilt labels using the small font. To make life easier I embroidered an upper and lower case letter in each font and size to help me decide what to use.
Have fun. |
I agree about the stabilizer - use a good one - voice of experience!
