I'm not sure about machine binding and competitions, but if you are worried about hand-stitching, try ladder stitching the binding on the back (it is almost totally invisible).

This is going to be a show winner for sure. It is stunning and I love the added touch of the flowers on the border. Your fabric is also gorgeous! Good luck but you won't need it.

I finished my disappearing hourglass a couple of months ago and used a Batik that faded in and out in different colors along with white. This is such an amazing Pattern and makes an amazing quilt. Yours is gorgeous with the floral border all around. That really sets the bar higher :-)
