I am making a quilt with machine embroidered designs from emblibrary.com, called "Animals in Pajamas II" I fell in love with the little guys and am anxious to put either nine or twelve of them into a quilt for my nephew's first child due in December. I think I'll us the Quilter's Cache pattern of "Hourglass 4" as the surrounding block. Not sure yet. There will be more to come (if I don't shoot my embroidery machine! ).

CajunQuilter2 09-12-2009 02:54 PM

those are precious, but where is the ducky??

Ducky 09-12-2009 02:55 PM

Funny you should mention that, CajunQuilter. I wondered the same thing. I don't think any of the Animals in Pajamas collections have a ducky. It's an outrage! I may need to write them.

Ninnie 09-12-2009 03:27 PM

Those are just the neatest thing since sliced bread!!
And , uh, Ducky , please don't shoot your embroidery machine. You just got your other baby home from the hospital!

Ducky, those are the cutest! You might just have to buy a Ducky separately though...can you find one?

Susy 09-12-2009 04:48 PM

Oh, so cute, wish I had an embroidery machine!

sewnsewer2 09-12-2009 04:48 PM

Good job. I LOVE EL's designs, they stitch so perfect!

SharonC 09-12-2009 05:04 PM

They are soooo cute. What a lovely baby quilt they will make :) :)

NorBanaquilts 09-12-2009 05:11 PM

real cute, can't wait to see it finished. Hope there is a duck in the final project.

Jim's Gem 09-12-2009 05:31 PM

Those are really cute. I need to learn how to use my embroidery unit!!!

Ducky 09-12-2009 05:33 PM

Ha! I found a duck in pajamas. I need to finish the others first before I clear the memory card to add it. Yes! There will be a duck!

Pea Soup 09-12-2009 05:40 PM

Adorable! I am eager to see the finish piece. Hourglass would be good symbolically -- children grow so fast.

I know your pain regarding embroidery machines. I used to design embroidery images and testing them on my machine would be the most frustrating thing, my Brother machine is so pissy!!!

cute

katier825 09-12-2009 06:44 PM

So cute! :)

Lisanne 09-12-2009 06:48 PM

Wow! I'm impressed. I really thought that machine embroidery couldn't be very good, but that is great! Cute little animals, too. The finished quilt will be darling.

2wheelwoman 09-12-2009 06:56 PM

Way too cute!

Iluv2quilt 09-12-2009 07:13 PM

The designs are just adorable, it's going to be such a cute quilt!

joeyoz 09-12-2009 07:15 PM

Oh, those are so adorable. Can't wait to see the quilt.

Ducky 09-12-2009 07:25 PM

Thanks for sharing my excitement here with these little guys. I am working on three more and will post them, too. Not sure if I should do it here or start a new thread with a different subject line....

Ninnie, I didn't shoot it. All I needed to do is give it a stern lecture.

They really do, don't they? I have loved every design I've gotten from them. My next venture is to try their appliques.

I'm in awe of you for designing images. That seems like it would be fun! Can you show us any of your designs?

Ducky 09-12-2009 08:13 PM

Jim'sGem, I think you would really enjoy it. It's just a fun change of pace. Ninnie and Cutebuns do quite a bit also.

Lisanne, I was very skeptical of the quality of machine embroidery until my mother showed me some of hers. I think my biggest challenge has been getting the tension right.

And, thank you 2wheelwoman, suzi and Joeyoz....I'm really hoping I can make the setting around them "right". I have lots of baby fabrics -- both cotton and flannel -- and I was wondering if I couldn't do a little bit of a scrappy block. We'll see.

cutebuns 09-12-2009 08:27 PM

Love the embroidery work Ducky, be nice to the machine and maybe it will behave, you have to talk sweet to it!

scrappinmad 09-12-2009 09:21 PM

oh how adorable :-) I should really get back to embroidery. been awhile :(

Bevanger 09-13-2009 03:48 AM

Oh my goodness. I just love those. They are adoreable :D

Ducky 09-13-2009 07:00 AM

Thank you so much, Scrappinmad and Bev. I've had so much fun in doing them. I just hope my nephew and wife like it as much as I do.!

I think I will do a scrappy flannel look. I agree -- I think it would look wonderful.

Arizona Sunshine 09-14-2009 10:20 AM

Skeat 09-14-2009 10:26 AM

Awww! What a great gift!! And work! But, really cute! And, yes, you should write them and tell them the duck must have been lost on the trip or something!:)Skeat (how long does it take to make one of those...say the turtle. They do look like much work/time is involved and thread! But, since I don't have one...I wasn't sure)

Debbie1 09-14-2009 10:44 AM

They are wonderful - very cute!

Some certainly take more time than others. For something like the turle, I usually can plan on 45 mins. or so....and that's without interruptions. I'm working on slowly building up my threads with larger spools than just the 200's.

Wow Ducky!! That is why they look so amazing! Thanks for telling:)Skeat

My DH asked me if I would like an embrodery machine for my birthday. I told him no, because I really didn't like it that much. Well, I just changed my mind. Those are really awesome. Love them! My favorite is the teddy with the teddy.
