 the very wonderful thing about old quilts are the colors are usually different than the ones we currently are working on--and it always amazes me how the "older" colors become the "new" colors whether a year, ten, or hundred years ago... I LOVE your quilt--thanks for sharing...

BarbieQ 01-07-2010 07:09 AM

Great job and good colors.

Gorgeous quilt and my colors too! Be very proud as your work is fantastic!

Oh, Lordy, it's overwhelming. I would be so accomplished to be able to 'quilt' like that, machine or not. Mine are not very imaginable.....just follow a line in the patterns. Yours is perfect. How great!

If you are following the line <g> it is only a matter of time before you start making swirlies! Just wait and see!
This quilt is exactly how many of us got up the nerve to free motion quilt! ... with or without a long-arm quilting machine;-)

Harmony 01-07-2010 10:04 AM

Gorgeous! Your quilting takes my breath away!

Sandra Craig 01-07-2010 11:14 AM

From your lips to God's ears, Omak, and thank you for the positive encouragement to all of us who aspire to creating something as equally beautiful.

And thanks for posting the photo and story behind this finally finished quilt, thequilteddove, I'm impressed with your determination to bring out the best in this initially disappointing, by your account, and needy top... where would most of us be if someone hadn't given us some TLC? I'm smiling big because this reminded me of what I told one of my adopted rescue fur babies..."I'm goin' to love you pretty!"

quilterj 01-07-2010 02:08 PM

I love the quilt. What pattern is that?

Dkm 01-07-2010 02:39 PM

What a beautiful quilt!! I adore your color choices!!!

KR 01-08-2010 05:41 AM

Absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing!
I'm still new enough that questions abound.....what color thread did you use on the top?

I love to see the quilting, but not necessarily the thread. Current project is patriotic/red-white-blue and am trying to figure out what color thread to use....all one color or different in each color block?

heidikins 01-08-2010 08:04 AM

What a beautiful quilt. I never would have thought of those colors could look so nice together. But the quilting makes the quilt just perfect. Great job!
