My first pattern was a recommended easy quick one, even though it took me days to make, as I was sooo sllooowww in sewing it. It was fun, anyway, and I'm obviously hooked.

I had it LA quilted with coffee cups, as I'm a coffee lover to the max.

The next one is the same pattern, but I made more recently. My husband asked me to make him a quilt he could take underway (he's a submariner) a week before he was to leave. I did it... I finished the binding about an hour before I had to drop him off.

Really easy pattern, great for beginners... really fun to make!

You did a great job! This addiction will overtake your life...and its so much FUN! What started as a "learning experiment" for me has turned into my own sewing room/studio and a passion.

Welcome to the club!

janRN 01-16-2010 07:08 PM

You did a great job on both of them. What's next?

ladygen 01-16-2010 07:11 PM

Another Turning Twenty (posted the first one here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-34280-2.htm ), a batik for our bed, slowly collecting scraps for a scrappy triple irish chain, finishing up an applique quilt I did, working on my son's dinosaur applique quilt (posted a couple days ago)... uh...

I guess having mutiple projects makes me a full blown quilter now, huh? ;)

SherriB 01-16-2010 07:33 PM

Your quilts are so pretty! I am a coffee drinker and love the coffe quilt. Is "Just Can't Cut It" the name of the pattern?

anglgrl 01-16-2010 07:36 PM

love the first one I drink lots of coffee and tea and of course the second one is very nice too!!!

ladygen 01-16-2010 07:55 PM

Just Can't Cut It is indeed the pattern. It's by All Washed Up ( http://www.allwashedupquilts.com )

tlrnhi 01-16-2010 07:58 PM

Cute!
Great job!
Just make sure when you get that quilt back off the boat, you wash it 2 times and use TONS of fabric softener. For some reason, boat smell gets into it and doesn't want to let loose. I've found that Snuggle with Fabreeze (I think that's the one) works great!

ladygen 01-16-2010 08:12 PM

Thanks!

Yeah, boat smell is just one of my *most favorite* smells ever (gag)... I hate trying to get that smell out of everything. Downy's Spice Blossom Dare seems to do the trick, and it smells sooo delicious. He was pretty proud of his new quilt last patrol :)

joeyoz 01-16-2010 08:12 PM

They look great. Good job.

MollieSue 01-16-2010 08:15 PM

Funny thing.....you'll miss that smell. Honest you will. You might say I'm nutz right now, but I do miss boat smell. Ok, maybe I am nutz.....but I've been doing the "canoe club" for about 24 years. Done both fast attacks and tridents, but prefer him on FAs....more portcalls! lol

ladygen 01-16-2010 08:27 PM

We haven't done FAs yet, and I'm not sure we will - he's an FT, and I don't believe they have any need for FTs on FAs... just the USS Nebraska (trident) so far. We just started year 6 on this boat (hoping to get shore duty here, at home, instead of moving for a couple years).

sewnsewer2 01-16-2010 08:58 PM

Very pretty! I especially like the coffee one.

rootyr 01-17-2010 03:31 AM

Lovely!

ranger 01-17-2010 05:07 AM

They are both great quilts. I like the coffee one....the colors and coffee print pop right out. I like your floor mat too. I have to confess I'm a tea drinker....never did like coffee. I'd love to have a 'tea' mat for the floor area near the kitchen sink.

Deecee 01-17-2010 05:20 AM

I'm a tea drinker also but I still love the coffee fabric.

Lockeb 01-17-2010 05:38 AM

Great job on both..I especially love the coffee one - I would love to have a table cover like that...what a fun pattern.....love the colors....

Justquilting 01-17-2010 05:42 AM

grammy Dwynn 01-17-2010 06:39 AM

love them
The 'just can't cut it' pattern is sooo easy. I have made two and they do go together fast.

Mousie 01-17-2010 07:47 AM

wow, are you ever a fast learner, and love the fabrics! :D

Ducky 01-17-2010 08:31 AM

They're both great! I particularly love the colors in the one you gave your husband. I was thinking it would make nice and quick gifts..........well, make that nice. I've been sewing for years and I'm still not quick at it.

Jim's Gem 01-17-2010 06:08 PM

They both look wonderful!! Congratulations!!
