First quilt

So here is my first quilt, not real happy with it as the seams dont line up at all, but my 3 year old wont notice and I hope he loves it anyway.

LyndaOH 04-04-2013 08:42 PM

How could he not love it? It's so much fun! Congratulations on your first quilt!

quilt-n-girl 04-04-2013 08:48 PM

I think you did a wonderful job, just making your first quilt show how strong you are. I hear a lot of people say they could never make a quilt. I tell them any one can do it if they find out how, it just takes one step at a time. I hope you give quilting another chance, you will only get better with practice. Keep up the good work.

i love the colors you used and how you placed them. It is beautiful!
from here I don't see the errors that you see because YOU know where they are and I am not even trying to find them. All I see is beauty Bravo!
congratulations for even starting to learn how to quilt. Now you will want to try again with another pattern and you will soon improve with each project

nicely done

First of all, the joy of a rag quilt is that the seams do not need to match up. Get most of your mistakes out of the way on the first quilt and do better on the next. It is also hard to line up seams on a rag quilt because you can't nestle the seams together. Love your quilt.

Such fun, bright colors! I love it! Congratulations on your first quilt.

Moonglow 04-05-2013 04:49 AM

Nicely done. Great cheerful colours.

joyce888 04-05-2013 04:53 AM

Great job! And that's the great thing about a rag quilt, you don't have to worry so much about the seams not matching.

Cyn 04-05-2013 04:55 AM

I agree with Joyce! Rag quilts are very forgiving. Yours is beautiful!!!

Great job!!!!

SheriR 04-05-2013 06:35 AM

Congrats! Your quilt looks GREAT! I've never dared do a rag quilt. They look hard and tedious to me. All that cutting! Maybe I'm weird(or lazy) my sister and daughters love them. And yours is fabulous!

Keep Them In Stitches 04-05-2013 06:50 AM

You did a terrific job. I bet your son loves it.

Homemother 04-05-2013 02:23 PM

Well! I love it! Your fabrics are fab and just wait until all those edges get fuzzy soft! It's a wonderful quilt to cuddle up to! CONGRATS on completing your first quilt! Doesn't it feel good?

barny 04-05-2013 02:27 PM

I love it. I love the color too. Your little one will surely love it.

QUILTNMO 04-05-2013 03:05 PM

decky 04-05-2013 03:06 PM

Of course he will love it, it was made for just him by his Mom!! My Mom made quilts for all my kids and to this day my oldest son still has his but does not use it as it is almost 40 years old. He wants to keep what is left of it!!

great quilt ,quilting is a learning experience and I'm alway learning new tips , tecniques,it is very therapuretic

Leota 04-05-2013 03:12 PM

The seams aren't suppose to match up on this type of quilt.... that's why it's a "rag quilt".... the fraying camoflages the seams and makes it "fun and sassy"..
Yes your 3 yr old will love it.
Good JOB!

Zappycat 04-05-2013 04:46 PM

Awwww.... it looks so cuddly!! He will just love wrapping up in it!! Good for you.... great job!

Rag quilts 'hide' a multitude of errors. Keep quilting...we all have stories like yours in our quilting pasts.

DebbE 04-06-2013 10:44 AM

Congratulations! It's a happy quilt and your son will love it for many years to come! Be proud!
