First square done. Tell me paper piecers. Do you take the paper off before you sew the squares or after you sew all the square together?
|
after:)
|
wait until you have everything joined to remove your papers, it holds everything (bias edges) square and stable for working with.
and, when you do go to remove your papers, sometimes it helps to spritz with a little water, if you are having a hard time. place a finger(or thumb) on the edge of the stitches before pulling on the paper so you do not pull your stitches apart. great job! i love to paper piece! |
Thanks for the info.

Very pretty! Great job!
|
That's really very beautiful. Nice job.
|
Once the paper pieced area is completely surrounded, I remove the paper.
|
Great colors together
I take my papers off after they are sewn together  |
After I sew a couple of blocks together (with the papers left on) I check to see if there will be any little bits of paper buried in hard to reach places (usually in the intersections.)
If there are, I only remove those little pieces before continuing to sew the blocks together :D:D:D Your fabric choices are stunning!! I can't wait to see this quilt :D:D:D |
I love your colors that is pretty.
If you can find some old quilts they still have their paper attached to the blocks. I wait till it is done. |
Going well, very pretty block. :-)
|
When I did my avatar quilt, I removed the paper before joining the blocks. There were 6 blocks that had to go together and it was just way too much bulk. After I removed the paper, I blocked each block with spray fabric finish and trimmed it to the proper size. It just seemed easier to match points without the paper getting in the way.

nicely done, I am from Saskatchewan too...nice to meet someone a little closer..

Very pretty. I have made a Hunters Star but never with paper piecing. I leave the paper on until I get the surroundimng blocks done. Sometimes I will tear out the paper before going over seams other wise it can be difficult to get out. I like paper piecing, but I do not like the job of tearimg off the paper.

After. But if you shorten your stitch length paper rips off much easier and cleaner. Makes points so perfect, too.
|
thanks for the information about lowering the stitch length.
