Mombasil and I made our first trip to the Goodwill store after seeing the great finds others have found. I highly recommend looking at thrift stores. I found a wall hanging, 5 1/2 yards of large flower fabric, backing material, and a quilted pillow

Wow! You did good! I haven't found anything lately. I'm beginning to think there is more QB members on that live close by and they are hitting my thrift shops. LOL!!

Tink's Mom 01-19-2011 07:36 PM

Never found any fabric at any of the Goodwill stores around here...but I keep hoping. :-D

Don't forget the church rummage sales. And some bigger yard sales too

The key to the great finds is, don't go expecting to find anything. You will be pleasantly surprised and it works everytime. Well that's how it goes for me. If I go in expecting to find a deal/steal it turns out a bummer trip.
Great haul by the way

We have a goodwill in the same shopping center as a LQS. I always stop there before going on to the shop. I can usually find double the "fabric" for half the price. :)

justflyingin 01-20-2011 03:09 AM

That purple floral is gorgeous!

Izaquilter 01-20-2011 03:16 AM

quiltgrammyt2 01-20-2011 03:16 AM

Great find!!!
I'm sooo ready to hit the second hand stores again, maybe this weekend.

cindynvb 01-20-2011 03:48 AM

Maybe I need to find a new thrift shop, I never find fabric at mine. Anyone seen Bonnie Hunter's new book Shirttails? She talks about using recycled fabrics to make quilts. Check out her web site, Quiltsville
Have a nice day all

lucky u! my area has kinda dried up and am not finding much, or other lucky ladies r beating me to the good stuff.lol

raptureready 01-20-2011 05:47 AM

Don't know about your's but mine gives me a 25% discount on Wednesdays because I'm over 55---an aged senior! LOL

Looks like you got some good buys. I see you're from Illinois too. I haven't been to mine in a few weeks, if it's the same one that might be why you found so much. Looks like you got a great deal.

Grama Lehr 01-20-2011 08:18 AM

Pretty! I like the last one best!

gramqlts 01-20-2011 08:22 AM

Looks like the makings of an OBW to me! Great find.

AgapeStitches 01-20-2011 08:26 AM

Don't for get to visit Value Village if you have one. They are afiliated with the National Kidney Foundation. I have found quite a bit of fabric (old and new, scraps and yardage) all bagged up together for $3.50 a bag.

Aunt Doggie 01-20-2011 08:27 AM

Hey I am in Illinois also, so I am hoping you aren't in my area stores!!!!

I just love finding the sewing items and going through the Men's jackets to find good wool for applique projects!!!

Found $2.99 wood bookcase/shoe shelf that I painted for my printer.... My husband asks "Did they have anymore? I could use one for my shop" ... He will just have to go with next time!!! ;)
