Well done - you can post them here, as there is an ongoing page of threads about Jane Stickle and her quilt. To find it, go to the bottom of the page, click on Topic Lists, then scroll right down to nearly the bottom.

Looking great.....Isn't it funny how white always makes things stand out and look so crisp. Can't wait to see more of these squares.

A whole group of board members started this quilt in January 2009, with a schedule for three or four blocks a week, plus a triangle. Some of us have finished, and there are still some working on it, and others have since joined and working at their own pace.
The link again is here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/virtual...jsp?vsnum=1009

Thanks for all the lovely comments, everyone! Maybe I will just add more pictures to this post as I go, so that I don't overload the board, lol. These took a lot of time to make, but they are a lot of fun! And, yes, super tiny- the inner star on the yellow block is the same size as a quarter! Jane was crazy, I think. ;)

(Correction- I said A9 was 45 pieces, that's what it would have been if I'd followed the pattern in the book, but that would have meant sewing two pieces of the same fabric together to make the big triangles. I just made them out of one piece, instead, so- 41 pieces.)

thepolyparrot 09-06-2011 10:34 AM

Holy smokes those are tiny! So precise! :)

The journey of a thousand miles - you're on your way. :)

MommaDorian 09-06-2011 11:31 AM

Is the Dear Jane software stand alone? Or do I need Electric Quilt too?

TIA

I don't have the software, but I think I've read in other threads that it can be used alone. Hopefully if I'm wrong someone else will chime in to correct me! :)

You're off to a great start.

Good work. Good luck. How many years do you plan to work on this?

Carron 09-07-2011 01:00 AM

You are doing a great job.

Thank you all, very much! You're so very encouraging. :D

QM-- Oh, I think it's going to be a while. Though I'm the sort of person who could easily allow myself to get sucked right in and immerse myself in making these fun little blocks 24/7 (my grandmother compared making them to eating salted peanuts :) ), I've got too much else going on to let myself. If I do a block/triangle a week, I think that puts me on what?, a 4 year and 4 month plan... plus handquilting... yikes! It'll be a while, I guess! lol  ...Well, I'm two blocks closer to my goal, anyway! ;)

(I don't think I mentioned- these blocks took me 4 1/2 and 4 hours to make. I'm sure they could take less time for someone using a different method but this is how I know to do it. These are also some of the advanced blocks- I'm sure when I get through the advanced blocks and start working on the intermediate and beginner level blocks, they'll take less time- maybe I'll be able to get a little ahead of schedule then!)

Wow, yours is beautiful! I think those DJ virtual design walls are so cool. If I ever can figure out how to use one, maybe I'll set one up for mine. Mine won't be nearly as impressive for a while, though! Picturing it with two lonelly little blocks right now, lol...

Thanks! I figured I'd start with the hardest blocks and get them out of the way first...

I've seen that blog, really great info.

I am staying with my Daughter in Law when we go to the Houston quilt festival. We are planning to start Dear Jane. Yours looks great.

bamamama 09-07-2011 07:55 AM

Love the bright colors you are using! Can't wait to see the finished quilt!

wartime jane 09-07-2011 09:17 PM

I'm impressed that you started with that star. I remember her well. :)

Keep posting pix. Many people love Jane.

DottyD 09-08-2011 12:29 AM

Kristin,
This might help you set up your design wall.

Your Baby Jane on the Virtual Design Wall

This would be the place to start in achieving your own design wall.

http://www.smastbrook.net/dj/djvdw.htm

This gives you the starting point in putting your own wall on your computer
or uploading it to your web space given to you by your provider.

Regards DottyD
