I belong to a UFO Bee and this year we are doing a UFO Challenge. The goal is to finish 6 quilts this year, but my own personal goal is to finish a UFO each month. I've finished my first one for January. It is a Thanksgiving table topper and is much bigger than the picture implies. The center is a panel, which was given to me by my Secret Sister in my local guild. Since I'm learning to machine quilt it was perfect! And it is actually done in time for next autumn, which is remarkable. :lol:

I could not find a marking pen or pencil that would work on the outer border. It drove me insane until I came up with a great solution. I took the paper tissue that comes with gifts, drew out the design on it and pinned it to the quilt. Then I quilted it and removed the paper. It worked great and even though the design doesn't show up on such a busy fabric, I'm very pleased with it. It was great practice and I'm now collecting gift bag tissue paper for when I have this problem in the future.

Please feel free to add any photos of pictures you have done of finished UFOs for this new year!!

That will look GREAT in my dining room!!Beautiful job!

Great job - your machine quilting looks wonderful. My friend has the same panel ( quilt) and it is bigger than it appears !
wish I could join the UFO - club - handquilting a wallhanging. Maybe done next month!

dsj 01-05-2010 02:21 PM

Tiffany, I never have time to quilt for myself and I really like the pumpkins very much, HINT,HINT. I would take very good care of it. Just teasing, it is really cute.

dsj 01-05-2010 02:23 PM

Okay, I wasn't really teasing, I had to take another look and yep I think you should send that to me. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT.

What a great idea! this year I promise to finish my UFO project; it's a perpetual calenda( sort of..). the idea was to make a wall hanging to represent each month, nothing bigger than 3'x4' to hang in my cubicle. The idea came to me late in 2008... So far I've completed February ( last March , hee,he)
and December ( this November, woohoo)... I was looking at the different magizines just before Christmas, and thought... you know, wouldn't it look great to have a new quilt up in my cube?

Cute Wall Hanging!!
I have a bunch of UFO's I hope to get done this year. Several only need the quilting, which will have to wait until my shoulder heals more.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

liblueeyes - I would love to see a pic of your hand quilted wallhanging.

Klue - Next month I'm finishing up a baby quilt. I'll post pictures.

dsj - Thank you! You make my heart feel happy with your praise.

vjengels - Oooh, do you have pics of your cubicle quilts? What a great idea! (Your schedule on finishing them sounds a lot like mine! :lol: )

Boston - Yep, feels great to get a UFO finished. One down, 96 more to go. :oops:

Jim - what happened to your shoulder?

I've just noticed how many members are 'in hiding' when it comes to their location. I don't know where this place is but it seems lots of you live there. :lol:

UFO = Unfinished Object
WIP = Work in Progress

You'll pick up all the language pretty quickly. Most of us, if we've been quilting for any length of time, have plenty of UFOs and you'll hear us talking about them (moaning often) quite frequently.

Pineapple Princess 01-13-2010 10:16 AM

Very nice!

crafterbarbara 01-13-2010 10:29 AM

Thank you ! I won't tell you how many I have in my TO Do box.

Hi Tiffany, thanks for asking to see fotos. I haven't accomplished anything nearly as beautiful as that quilt behind you in your Avatar! So here are the 2 I have so far; for the heart quilt I had seen a hanging using the same method of raw edge appliques, cut in half and paired with a different half; using Pear shapes... I may have to re-do this one.... it's adequate, but, needs some tweeking.
The Giddy up & go, Santa hanging I saw the artist on Simply Quilts, her name is Margaret, or Marilyn... And I thought it was the cutest thing ever!

Too cute!!

Tiffany 01-14-2010 09:59 AM

vjengels - I love both your quilts! I remember the Simply Quilts show with the santa applique. I always wanted to do it but have never gotten around to it; too many other projects. Your hearts quilt is so sweet!!

vjengels 01-14-2010 11:18 AM

Thanks! When one of my grandchildren saw the Santa quilt, he said 'Grandma! that bunny is made of chocolate!' I love that child because he thinks like I do.

Tiffany 01-14-2010 12:47 PM

LOL! Gotta love the way that boy thinks!
