Oh my Goodness, I love the Carpenter's Star!!!!!! Oh, wow. Where did you find a pattern that big? I did a 24" block, but not in flannel, but what a wonderful idea. I'm in love with your quilt.

I LOVE them! :D
Beautiful!!! They look so cozy.
Was the flannel hard to sew?
I would love to try one.

maggiesquilt 10-09-2009 06:53 AM

I hand piece and it is easy to sew flannel by hand and fast as well. Can't say about machine sewing as I haven't tried it.

Great looking quilts. Love the carpenter's star. how big is the quilt and what size did you make the individual blocks?

The carpenters star ended up being 85" square. I kept adding so it would cover my husband when he was stretched out on the couch. It turned out so much better than I thought it would.

Did you have to wash your fannel frist to keep it from drawing up when dried in dryer? They sure are pretty your family must be so proud of u thanks for sharing such lovely quilts

Honey 10-10-2009 10:12 AM

I love working with flannel. It is so comforting. I got some a few years ago at my lqs and it gets softer with each washing and does not wear out. There is just something about snuggeling under a flannel quilt when it is cold.

dunster 10-10-2009 03:22 PM

They're all beautiful, and you've found such lovely pieces of flannel. Did you use a batting, or just flannel front and back?

bstroud51 10-10-2009 05:14 PM

I have made 3 quilts from this pattern book. If you look on the web the queen size sells for $560. I gave a class to beginners and they all were able to complete this with little or no trouble but it looks so hard.

maggiesquilt 10-11-2009 07:26 AM

Yes, I always wash flannel, as it shrinks a lot.

maggiesquilt 10-11-2009 07:27 AM

I used batting to give them stability and will be heavier and cozier when covering up on a cold night.

flannelqueen 05-28-2011 06:44 PM
