I love this pattern. Have been wanting to do this block for a long time but never liked the construction methods I've seen so I designed my own pattern.

I divided the block into quadrants. I like putting square blocks together better. An advantage to this gives the center star a 3-D look if you want by using contrasting fabrics. I chose to keep it plain this time. The pattern was designed to serve two purposes. You have the choice of doing either flip and sew or cut them in half and sew. I left enough room for you to flip the whole thing RST (right sides together) and then cut 1/4 inch away from the seam and your block is finished!! **Just be careful to line everything up good.**

The instructions are on the pattern for those who need it. Print it out on lightweight paper. Hope you like my floral spiderweb mini and pattern! (It's 8 inches square).

I'm so tickled you're going to try it out! It will be beautiful however you guys do it - especially when you get all four blocks together and can see the web emerging! Looking forward to your post! :-) :-)

Because the pattern looks like hieroglyphics, I'm reprinting it out in a larger format so it's readable. It's readable after downloading, but for the sake of having it look right online, I'm posting a better pic. Sure hope the pic is not fuzzy this time.

n2scraplvr 11-24-2009 03:58 PM

Well, it just didn't work so well after all. ** Please download the pattern first, then print it out and it will be readable.** Thank you so much!

n2 I can see this done with a gold or yellow center and then shades of navies for a star in a mini Nativity scene. G

OMG, that sounds wonderful, G! Go for it! Wouldn't that be darling? It reminds me of the Star of the East now that you mention it!!
