This was made from left overs from drunkards path blocks.i made flower blocks from the left overs.
and used a flower print panel for the back.

That is really pretty!! Great use of leftovers! :D

Ladymurphy 07-31-2010 04:27 PM

Very nice! Did you design the flowers or were they from a pattern?

CarrieAnne 07-31-2010 04:27 PM

Oh, I really like that! Pretty!

nativetexan 07-31-2010 04:29 PM

the flowers were just the sections left over when i cut out some drunkards path patterns. the arc piece. i place the templates on fabric as close together as possible and trace them. then cut out. the "petals" were just what was left over and i decided they would make great flowers.
and no, no pattern.

and this is one i'm working on but had to put aside for others more immediate.
Batik charms. yes, i know. i got three pinks together. i actually laid them out, took them down to sew and there those darn pinks were!

Your flower petal quilt is really cool!

nativetexan 07-31-2010 05:27 PM

I intended to make a quillow out of it but had trouble stitching the pillow to it. i'd used batting to quilt the front flower block and it was in the seams. too much thickness.

BarbZ 07-31-2010 05:29 PM

Really cute flower petals. What a good idea.

Very cool quilt I have a cousin that is fixing to start chemo and I'm thinking of making her a quilt with the daisies

rexie 07-31-2010 05:51 PM

The first one looks like a poinsettia.

Perfect for a young lady's room! I love your flowers and your batik blocks are pretty.

nativetexan 08-01-2010 05:30 AM

since i'd intended that flower quilt to be a quillow, i went back last night and made a regular pillow. one side is the flower petal block (has pink and yellow petals) and the other side is a daisy print block.
the red fabric that looks like a poinsettia is from a print that looks like bursts of fireworks.

mollymct 08-01-2010 05:31 AM

Is there a tutorial out there on how to do that from drunkard's path leftovers? It is such a sweet quilt!
