Fluffy flannel rag quilt- not

1 Attachment(s)
I have seen flannel rag quilts having nice fluffy edges. Obviously, this flannel quilt did not meet my expectations despite using high end flannel. The edges are sewn 1/2 inch rather than 1/4 inch.
Do I need to sew 3/4 inch for fluffy? Thanks

I too used high end flannel for a baby quilt I made.......... I too was unhappy with the results. I had also made one with cheep flannel and was much happier with the results. Seems the cheep flannel fluffed much nicer.

I had to wash mine twice before I got the fluffy's Make sure you take it to a laundry mat for the first couple of washing, it makes a real mess in your washer, all those little strings. Pretty, I like your colors.

I made one with 1" seam allowance and washed it like 5 or 6 times. Came out very nice. Still treasure it. It was the first one for my son.

Larger seams will help. It's nice quilt!

Your quilt is very pretty! I've never made one but I'm sure they are right that the more it is washed the fluffier it will get.

Pretty quilt. I used 1" seams when I made a flannel rag quilt.

If you want it to rag more, take a spray bottle with water and a scrub brush. Spray the seams (the ones sticking up) and then work your scrub brush back and forth.

Unlike what we normally want, in this case cheaper fabric with a looser weave will rag (fray) easier.

Very pretty, Have not made one yet.

yes larger seams and it takes a few washings to really rag nicely
