I found a neat pic on the web and got the idea for the center of this quilt. I had been wanting to make a black and white quilt and here it is!
It is about 55" x 55". Not quilted yet. I cannot decide what color thread to use!
this is the first pic I share on this site!

Super looking quilt. What about a silver metallic thread?

LOVE IT, the movement is astounding, and I too like the red goose. Great job.

Several months ago I saw a block with the geese done in a circle. I could not find the pattern online so I looked at it and divided into 4 blocks and drew them the best I could. I had never paper pieced but I figured there is a first time for everything. Once I made the middle block of the circle of geese I could not get it out of my head. I woke up around 3 am one morning with this idea that I wanted the geese to go in different directions for each round. Ever wake up with an idea you just have to act on? This is what I came up with. I have a special flying geese ruler I bought years ago. It took a while to make all the little geese but I am happy with the way it turned out.

Pretty.

Is there a black-grey-red variegated thread?
I think that would work well, if there is such!

BeebeeA 09-11-2011 07:26 PM

great idea
I will look for some
I have some black and white veragated thread but if I find some that includes red, I will get some!

BeebeeA 09-11-2011 07:28 PM

you are all too kind!

I'm really partial to variegated threads. All red would be too much. The three together would give some punch, zip and motion along with the quilting.

Great quilt. Love the lone red one.

QuiltE 09-11-2011 07:35 PM

I'm now wondering .... how do you plan to quilt it?
That might affect what thread to use.

A varigated black and white that has the gray also, would be really nice.

not sure yet what I want to do. I was thinking freemotion but I have not decided what to go with yet. Any ideas.
I am not a big fan of stitch in the ditch.

What a great quilt. Your "wake-up" idea is terrific. The touch of red is wonderful.
