Beautiful. I wouldn't change anything.

I think it is a grand start!
Remember - - before we could go buy a book, some clever quilter started with a project and thought of a way to "spice" it up a bit and was driven to keep working on those ideas to arrive at a complicated bargello. You just completed the first step. It is beautiful, and I am just betting you have some other ideas you are wanting to work on. We will look forward to your progress.   <wave> |

I wanted to do a bargello, but have been too afraid to start cutting, I didn't want to ruin all that fabric. Well, this past weekend, I bit the bullet, I started cutting the strips. Then sewed the strips together..... and ironed all the seams in the same direction. Is that the correct way, the same direction? I hope so. Well, I've just cut strips again... I'm not using a pattern, I'm just wingin' it as I go. I'm liking the look of it so far, not near as complicated as some of the beautiful bargello's I've seen posted here, but I'm pleased with how it's turning out so far. I used the colors exactly how they were in the bundles, I see one that looks out of place, but thats where it was in the bundle, and I really dont want to unsew every strip to move it. Any suggestions? Would you move it? Thanks for looking! |
Really beautiful :)

i love the look of these quilts, but have been to afraid to attempt one. i am encouraged to know that you are doing yours without a pattern. it is absolutely beautiful.

Thank you for your encouragement.
I'm only about 1/2 done with piecing the strips together. So it waits for me every day, patiently on the living room floor, until I get home from work (it's a good thing we don't use that room much =) .. I've had to force myself to sea at least ONE strip on each day. I'm very glad I finally started this project, but I REALLY wish I would have picked colors that I like more. I find it hard to work on because I'm not fond of the colors. But it has been a good lesson, I've learned alot, and have become good friends with my froggy friend.. rip-it rip-it. I have also learned that if someone is not a quilter, they really CAN'T see your mistakes.. isn't that GRAND! |
