I practiced my FMQ today on my 15-125 Singer. It's a bit like kindergarten...I can't stay in the lines & I needed a nap afterwards. Actually, I can see some progress with my FMQ. I've been practicing a lot lately. Usually on my little Brother, but I made myself try my old Singer. I bought it for this reason, but it was so powerful that I felt out of control. Probably spoiled by the computerized machines, too. I took the foot pedal out and put on the floor (as per a suggestion from someone on this board) and it helped greatly.

Love the FMQ and the beautiful white machine. Did you have it painted or is that original?

I found this on Craig's list a few months ago. It's actually a light green and that's the way that it came from the factory. I have been told that it is pretty much the same thing as a 15-91. I got it for $60 and spent another $65 having it cleaned. Came in a cabinet, too.

Last night I did a little FMQ on my practice quilt. Must have been tired cause when I took a closer look at it I decided it all had to come out. It was unacceptable, even for a practice quilt. I'm a kindergartener alright - one who's just learning to hold the pencil.

I do better fmq on my vintage Kenmore that on my Brother or Janome. I can control the speed better and it is heavier and in a cabinet so it dosen't dance around the table like the newer light weight ones.

I think that you are going to get a star from the teacher.
Being a newbie at FMQ myself, I wish I could do as good as you.

I am always amazed at what is found in thrift shops and on craigslist but somehow I never seem to find anything that nice on craigslist or in thrift shops in my area. I am really happy for you.

My pedal was in the cabinet & knee operated. You pressed a lever with your right knee & it in turned pressed the pedal. I had told someone on the board that I felt a little out of control with this machine. She suggested that take the pedal out of the cabinet. That seemed to help me. I think I've just gotten so used to using my foot instead of my knee. There is a large screw of sorts underneath the machine that when you turn it it lowers the feed dogs and that's why I bought it. I don't know if the other 15's have this. My machine was made in 1953. The needle stopping either up or down throws me off, too. I'm used to the computerized machines always stopping in the down position. It has taken me a little time to get used to it, but I think that I'll probably use it all the time now for the FMQ. What type of 15 did you get?
