FMQ Oops
1 Attachment(s)
I am practicing my orange peel quilting on some placemats. I am trying to get better at stopping with the needle down but not taking an extra stitch. An extra stitch can cause little knots of the intersections. I flipped it over to see how I did....not bad except:D

That looks great...for most of it. But that looks like it will be an easy fix. I start stopping 2 stitches ahead of where I want the machine to stop. It could be just that I'm slow.
Oops.
Been there, done that. Watson |
Nice quilting! I just did the exact same thing on my latest quilting project. Very very annoying. I tell myself to watch out on the edges and I still did it! At least it's not too much to rip out.
Looks like you've mastered the orange peel. That one little oops should be easy to fix.
Tartan, great quilting, love the consistency of the width of your curves but don't you have an option to set your needle to stop in the down position??
Yes I do have it set for needle down but I am trying to train myself to step off the gas pedal when I am not moving the sandwich or it will stitch in place a couple of times.
If you do a cathedrel window and quilt in the edge of the fold backs you get the same pattern. Didn't realise it was called orange peel.
Your quilting looks great. That little boo boo will take hardly any time to fix.

Beautiful and even work on the curves. One little glitch, so easily fixed!
Awesome work T. peace |
Great quilting!!
I think your quilting looks very good. Curves are clean and smooth. Good job! I'd be proud of that!
I do hate when the edge folds over as I wrassle my quilt through my sewing machine. It's an easy fix but kind of a pain. I did that two or three times on the next to last quilt I did. It had too much hanging over the edges and was thread basted. The small lap qut my daughter and I made was glue basted. What a difference. Everything stayed where it should. I didn't do that even once. I think I'll do that from now on. I really hate being so tied to my seam ripper. :) |
Great job....the little oops won't be a problem. I think we've all done the same thing at least once.
Looks good to me. At least your little oops is right at the edge.
Very professional looking. And the "oops" is an easy fix. Happens to me more than I'd like to admit.
Your quilting looks great. I have caught the backing a few times. Not fun but fixable.
Oh, I hate it when that happens. Lucky you that it is on the edge, a quick fix. Your quilting looks great!
Really nice job and thank goodness that "oops" is on the edge. Easy fix. Keep up the good work.
Great work Tartan. Looks like you've got that pattern mastered. Just a little booboo but easily fixed. Sometimes no matter how careful you are, things happen.
Ouch! It's fixable though. We all do things like that - makes us better the next time.
looks great..won't take you any time at all to rip that small error out and it will be perfect...
Your quilting looks good.....the oops is what I do al ot!
Looking good on the orange peel quilting!
WOW..........your circles are almost perfectly round too. I am impressed.
NIce job on the quilting. The booboo is easy to fix.

It's a much better orange peel than I can do. Great job! The "oops" looks very fixable.
Oops...but at least it was along the edge of the quilt. Great job on your orange peel FMQ design.
At least it is a easy fix. Can't tell you how many times I have done this. I really watch it now but when you are quilting you don't even think about it.
I've done that a time or 2 myself. So annoying.
If you're quilting on a home machine you should be able to reverse that extra stitch by rotating your hand wheel backwards (away from you) so the needle pulls back out of the extra stitch. I often use this trick because I'm always overshooting lines when I use my walking foot!
Good job.....
